Summer is coming to an end but a fall vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks offers many of the same perks of a summertime visit plus a brand new backdrop of gorgeous scenery. There are still lots of activities, attractions, and events to enjoy this time of year and Dog Days Bar & Grill in Osage Beach has the perfect place for you to stay while you're in town. 

For example, this week we are in the midst of the always exciting Bikefest Lake of the Ozarks, taking place September 16-20, 2020. Offshore Powerboat Races are coming to the lake area October 2-3. Our very own Annual Bogeys & Beer Golf Tournament is happening on Tuesday, October 6. (That's a crazy day on the links that you do not want to miss!) Fall festivals and pumpkin patches are coming soon and the heated pools at Dog Days Bar & Grill aren't shutting down just yet! Plenty of reasons to head to the lake! 

Luxury Waterfront Vacation Rentals

Our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks has a gorgeous, luxury vacation house for rent right next door. Our sister restaurant, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, has two of its own vacation rentals next door to them also. That means 3 excellent places to stay that have gorgeous lake views and put you within walking distance of delicious food, incredible drinks, and all kinds of fun. 

Stay Next Door to the Dog

The luxury waterfront Lake of the Ozarks vacation house rental next door to Dog Days is a 4,500 square-foot house that sleeps up to 16. It has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and 1 half-bath. Upstairs, there is a large living room, kitchen, and master bedroom with a bathroom. The Master Suite had a king-sized bed, double vanity sink, jetted tub, and a double shower. 

Downstairs, you'll find the other 4 bedrooms plus 2 full bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms offer queen-sized beds. The fourth bedroom contains two bunk beds. There are sleeper sofas as well. Another large living room, complete with a pool table, is also on this lower level.  

The upstairs and downstairs decks both run the length of the house and are the perfect place to sit back and enjoy a breathtaking view of the main channel. (You know, that same great view you can see from the Dog!) The house is settled on the 19-MM and comes with the use of a dock. There is a 14'x38' covered boat slip available on the property. We also provide you with the option to park at the Dog Days customer boat docks.  

You'll have all the comforts of home during your stay. The vacation rental property comes with a coffee maker, dishwasher, dishes, utensils, kitchen appliances, washing machine and clothes dryer, linens, towels, an outdoor grill, internet access, and much more. 2 More Excellent Options

As we mentioned earlier, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina also has two of their own amazing waterfront vacation house rentals. Both are next door (within walking distance) to the restaurant and the marina/gas dock/C-store. Both include many of the comforts of home, including a washer and dryer, full kitchen, gas grills, and more plus waterfront decks with beautiful lake views. A courtesy dock is available upon request.

The Glass House contains 1,500 square feet of living space with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and the ability to sleep up to 8 comfortably. Book the Glass House here. The Red House is larger at 3,400 square-feet of living space with 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and can accommodate up to 16 guests. There is also an apartment-like space detached from the house that is referred to as the "Love Shack"! Book the Red House here. 

There are still lots of exciting adventures to be enjoyed here before the season is over. Even after we close the doors at Dog Days Bar & Grill for the winter, our vacation house rentals will still be available all year long so that you can visit the lake area anytime that you feel the urge. Irresistible Entrees at Dog Days You Really Need to Taste!

There are a lot of different dishes on the menu at Dog Days Bar & Grill that are perfect for both lunch and dinner, plus quite a few that make a great mid-day or late-night "snack". Exciting Entrees
We offer a couple of hearty, flavorful, mouthwatering entrees at Dog Days Bar & Grill. Each one is served with a garden salad and bread. 

Crab Legs
These sweet, succulent snow crab legs are boiled to perfection in our special blend of southern spices and served by the pound with lemon and drawn butter. This dish also comes with your choice of a side dish. Choices include fries, cottage cheese, wild rice and quinoa, steamed broccoli, applesauce, or slaw.  

Chicken & Broccoli Alfredo
For this incredible dish, we take sauteed broccoli and cavatappi pasta, toss it all in a rich, creamy alfredo sauce, and then top that with a grilled 7-ounce chicken breast and grated parmesan cheese. 

Beautiful Beach Bowls
Not only are our Beach Bowls delicious, but once prepared, they look like a culinary work of art! Each one is served with bread and includes delicious combinations of marinated and grilled meats, sauteed vegetables, fresh fruits, herbs, rice, and more.

Cabo Shrimp Bowl
Grilled shrimp, pickled onions, jalapenos, sweet corn, and fresh avocado served with quinoa.

Chicken Stir Fry
Sauteed red pepper, green pepper, mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, kohlrabi, onion, and garlic tossed in a teriyaki sauce, served with a rice and quinoa blend, and topped with a grilled chicken breast. 

Primavera Bowl
Sauteed kohlrabi, broccoli, carrots, kale, spinach, garlic, butter, and herbs served with quinoa.

Our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks offers a diverse menu filled with all kinds of differently delicious dishes. There are far too many to list in today's blog, but here are 7 popular items from the Dog Days Bar & Grill menu that will give you a good idea of the fantastic flavors we've got waiting for you. 

Cabo Shrimp Bowl
We've got 5 different Beach Bowls filled with fresh, savory, colorful ingredients that are simply irresistible! One of these is the Cabo Shrimp Bowl, which features grilled shrimp, pickled onions, jalapenos, sweet corn, and fresh avocado served with quinoa. 

The Ozark Burger
You'll find a long list of signature burgers on the menu at the Dog and among these, our homestyle Ozark Burger. The patty is a half-pound of Angus beef topped with sharp cheddar cheese spread, pecan-smoked shoulder bacon, and bourbon BBQ sauce served on a brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles on the side. 

Crab Legs
A pail full of sweet, succulent snow crab legs is a wonderful meal to enjoy sitting lakeside on our dock. We boil our crab legs in a flavorful blend of southern spices and serve them by the pound with lemon and drawn butter. 

Chicken Spinach & Berry Salad
A masterful mix of fruits and veggies plus a few other savory ingredients make up this incredible dinner salad. We take fresh baby spinach and add seasonal berries, candied pecans, garlic croutons, and crumbled feta cheese all topped with a grilled chicken breast. 

Blackened Steak Tacos
We've got 6 different gourmet taco meals to tempt your taste buds here at Dog Days containing varieties of seafood, pork, chicken, and beef. The Blackened Steak Tacos are filled with marinated beef that has been diced and seared in Cajun spices plus Napa cabbage, pico, and shredded cheddar jack cheese all drizzled in roasted tomato jalapeno cream. 

Nachos
The biggest and best nachos at the Lake of the Ozarks come out of the kitchen at Dog Days! Each of the 5 different varieties begins with a bed of corn tortilla chips, chile con queso, and shredded cheddar jack cheese with salsa and sour cream on the side. After that, the toppings vary, including beef, jerk chicken, Buffalo chicken, BBQ pork, or a seafood mix of crab, shrimp, and scallops. 

Chocolate Volcano 
We hope you're used to saving a little room for dessert because this tasty treat should not be missed! Our Chocolate Volcano is piled high with chocolate ice cream, warm gooey brownie bites, whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and pecans with a cherry on top. If you don't have enough room for the whole thing, it's a good size to share with the rest of the table!

The Most Savory Sandwiches & Wonderful Wraps at the Lake of the Ozarks

The possibilities for what you can put between two slices of bread are endless, making sandwiches an excellent avenue for a culinary adventure. Here at Dog Days Bar & Grill in Osage Beach, we did have to limit those possibilities slightly, but only so that the sandwich portion of the menu didn't completely overshadow all of the other delicious options. (We have a LOT of mouthwatering menu choices for you to pick from!) 

Today, however, we're focusing on the many savory sandwiches available at our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks. Not a big bread fan? No problem! We've got some wonderful wraps featured below as well.

Each menu item below comes with a side of fries but you are welcome to upgrade to one of our signature sides. You can also upgrade to a gluten-free or pretzel bun if you like.

Ozark Sweet Hot Chicken
Hand-breaded chicken tenders tossed in our house-made hot honey sauce with a trio of melted Provolone, Swiss, and Provel cheeses on a toasted hoagie. 

Pickled Pig
Slow-smoked pulled pork topped with melted cheddar cheese, sauteed onions, bourbon BBQ, and slaw on a salt and pepper brioche bun. 

Bourbon BBQ Pulled Pork
Slow-smoked pulled pork drowned in our sweet bourbon BBQ sauce on a salt and pepper brioche bun with sweet and spicy pickles on the side. 

Chipotle Bacon Turkey Melt

Healthy, Filling, & Delicious - Savory Salads at Dog Days!

It can be tough to eat healthy when dining out unless of course, you choose to dine out at Dog Days Bar & Grill! Our chefs have created quite a few healthy options for the extensive menu at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant. You'll find seafood, Beach Bowls, and today's featured items, our savory salads.  

Not Your Average Salad
When our chefs make a salad, they are not just mindlessly throwing together some lettuce in a bowl with a crouton or two. Our fresh greens are accompanied by crisp vegetables, flavorful meats, and luscious fruits that pack a gigantic punch that will tickle your taste buds. The bold colors are even a feast for your eyes! 

Each ingredient is carefully selected to fill our salads with lots of vitamins, antioxidants, and all around good-for-you deliciousness! They are rich in fiber, which is great for boosting metabolism, improving digestion, and is helpful with weight loss. 

Lots of our salads are low in cholesterol, which is beneficial to heart health. The high amounts of potassium are wonderful for lowering blood pressure, and the antioxidants in the fruits and vegetables can protect against some cancers. All of the Vitamin C present in many of the salads is incredible for a good immune system too. 

Dog Days Salads
The many different ingredients in our salads offer many different health benefits but don't worry about which salad is best for you. We've tried very hard to put a nice mixture of everything into all of the amazing salads on our menu so every one is teaming with both goodness and flavor! 

All of our salads are served with garlic bread and your choice of dressings which include Buttermilk Ranch, Bleu Cheese, Honey Mustard, Italian, Sun-Dried Tomato Vinaigrette, Fat-Free Ranch, Raspberry Vinaigrette, 1000 Island, Asian Ginger Vinaigrette, and Balsamic Vinaigrette

Asian Tuna Salad
Grilled Ahi tuna, fresh baby greens, pickled beets, radishes, fresh mango, tri-color carrot nest, heirloom tomatoes, peppadew, and cucumbers. 

Cobb Salad
Crips baby greens, fresh avocado, heirloom tomatoes, red onions, bleu cheese, mozzarella, English cucumber, hardboiled eggs, crisp bacon, smoked turkey and ham. 

The Farmers Garden
Fresh greens, heirloom tomatoes, English cucumber, tri-color carrots, corn kernels, red onion, sweet peas, pickled beets, radishes, and garlic croutons.

Chicken Caesar Salad
Fresh Romaine lettuce tossed with parmesan cheese, house-made Caesar dressing, grilled chicken breast, and garlic croutons. 

Grilled Chicken Strawberry Spinach Salad
Baby spinach greens, candied pecans, sliced strawberries, cucumbers, fresh grilled chicken breast, garlic croutons, bleu cheese crumbles, and a raspberry vinaigrette.  

Something To Wash It Down
You'll need something to drink along with your meal. Water is always the healthiest choice, especially if you squeeze a lemon or lime in it for added Vitamin C. Unsweetened tea is another refreshing beverage. 

Sometimes it's hard to enjoy a lakeside meal without a cocktail to pair alongside it. In that case, there are a few drink choices that are light in calories and the addition of juices as mixers give you a boost of healthy nutrients. Spring Specialty Menus Have "Hatched" at Dog Days Bar & Grill!

Dog Days Bar & Grill in Osage Beach isn't exactly a "spring chicken" when it comes to waterfront restaurants at the Lake of the Ozarks (we've been serving the lake area since 1993!) That doesn't mean this "old dog" can't learn a few new tricks. 

Our everyday menu is full of flavors that keep people coming back, again and again, all season long, but we can't resist offering something new every once in a while. Right now we've got some amazingly delicious treats for you on our limited-time Spring Chicken Menu and our Spring Cocktail Menu.    

SPRING CHICKEN MENU

Chicken Diane Bowl
A 7-oz. herb-marinated chicken breast char-grilled and topped with a spinach-mushroom demi and mozzarella cheese. We serve this with a wild rice quinoa blend and garlic bread. 

Tuscan Chicken Melt
Herb-marinated chicken on grilled sourdough with sun-dried tomato pesto, romaine, black olives, and provolone cheese, drizzled with a balsamic glaze and served with fries. 

Sonora Chicken Wrap
Chile pepper dry-rubbed chicken, mixed greens, pepper jack cheese, tomato, fried jalapenos, peppadews, red onion, sweet corn, and chipotle cream in a grilled wheat wrap, served with fries. 

Wing Sauce of the Week
We couldn't have a specialty chicken menu without some of our famous Hickory-Smoked Wings on the list! Be sure to ask your server which house specialty sauce we're featuring that week when you come in.

Light Mango Breeze
Finlandia Mango Vodka mixed with Sprite Zero and splashes of cranberry and orange juices. Refreshing!

Watermelon Limeade
Absolut Lime shaken with watermelon puree and zero-calorie sour mix makes a tart and refreshing drink. Perfect for a sunny day on the deck or a dip in our pool! 

Cake Hole
This drink was popular in the early 2000s when vanilla vodka first came to the lake - Pinnacle Vanilla Vodka with sprite and sweet & sour mix. 

Bananas Foster
Cinnamon whiskey, banana liqueur, and a touch of butterscotch Schnapps blended with ice cream and banana puree. Our boozy take on the dessert New Orleans made famous!

Our Awesome Appetizers Get a Lakeside Meal Started Right!

The menu at our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks begins with appetizers that will tempt you to start your dining experience off deliciously before the main meal shows up. When you hear "appetizer," small portions may come to mind but that's not the case at Dog Das Bar & Grill! Our starters are served as great big helpings fit to feed a hungry crowd or even be a main dish for one. 

Check out what we have on our appetizer menu for this season. Have the car keys (or boat keys) close by too, because after you read this, you're going to want to head on over to the Dog!

Crab Legs
Sweet, succulent snow crab legs boiled in our southern spices and served with garlic butter and lemon. Sold at market price by the pound, with 2 clusters per pound.

Avocado Relleno
We take a fresh avocado, cut it in half, hand-bread those halves, and fry them to a gorgeous golden brown. Then they are stuffed with sweet and spicy sauteed shrimp, Texas caviar, and a roasted tomato and jalapeno cream. Try it beach-style and keep it fresh rather than fried.

Southern Fried Chicken Tenders
Hand-breaded chicken tenderloins fried golden brown and served with buttermilk ranch of BBQ. For an extra flavor boost, try them tossed in your favorite wing sauce!

Crab Rangoon
Crispy fried wontons filled with crab meat, cream cheese, and spices served with mango chutney dipping sauce.

Calamari
Flash-fried curly calamari tubes served with chipotle cream and lemon.
Ahi Tuna Platter
Seared yellowfin tuna, chilled and sliced thin, served with Napa cabbage, sesame ginger sauce, wasabi cream, and pickled onions.

Peel and Eat Shrimp
You have 2 choices with this delicious seafood.

Drunken Ginger Shrimp
8 jumbo shrimp sauteed in ginger wheat beer, sweetened soy, garlic, lime, and scallions.

Smoked then fried crispy with your choice of sauce and served with celery and either ranch or bleu cheese dressing. Sauce options include:

As we mentioned above, this starters menu is intended as an appetizer to whet your appetite before the main meal arrives. There are lots of other ways to enjoy these amazing dishes too. They are also great for a mid-day or after dinner snack when you need something to munch on or to pair with a lakeside cocktail or two. You might share this mini-meal with a few friends between lunch and dinner to keep your energy high enough for an entire day out on the water.
