The End is Here... But Just Until Next Year!

The time to shut down Dog Days Bar & Grill for the 2020 season has arrived, but you've still got a few days left to enjoy everything our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks has to offer! Do whatever you've got to do to get yourself on over here one last time before we close the doors until spring 2021. (Unless a surprise winter concert pops up at some point before then...)

Closing Day 2020 - Saturday, Oct. 31

This Saturday, October 31, will be the last day of Dog Days Bar & Grill's 2020 season. That also happens to be Halloween which is terribly fitting because everything we serve at the Dog is a real treat! There will be no tricks around here that day, just lots of great food, awesome drinks, and fun times being remembered while we make a few more end-of-season memories.

You might want to make plans to come in before Saturday because some of the most popular menu items could possibly run out before that last day. We'll still be opening up at 11:00 am daily for lunch, dinner, and any cravings you happen to get in between the two of those this week. Don't forget to pick up some Dog Days swag from the gift shop while you're here too. Those t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, koozies, and other items make great gifts for the holidays!

Drink & Dine On Your Favorites

Like we mentioned earlier, some of our most popular menu items could be running a bit low by the end of the week, so you might want to come in before then (or better yet, a few times before then) to make sure you get one last chance to order all of your favorites. From crab legs and Beach Bowls to bomb shots and Pain in the A** drinks, we're ready to whip them all up for you all week long.

Winter Vacation Ideas

The lake area is still "awake" throughout the winter, even while Dog Days is in hibernation and still a beautiful place to enjoy some downtime. Whether you're looking to get away from your day-to-day for a bit, visiting family in town for the holidays, celebrating New Year's Eve or coming back for the Lake of the Ozarks Mardi Gras Pub Crawl in February, there's always some reason to plan a vacation to the lake.

When you do, consider staying next door to Dog Days in our luxury waterfront vacation house rental at the Lake of the OzarksThe house has space for up to 17 guests with 5 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. You'll have all the comforts of home, plus quite a few wonderful extras that you probably don't get to enjoy every day at home. Call up 16 of your friends, come up with a reason to get away, and book your reservation online today!

Visit Our Sister Restaurants

Another wonderful thing to do in the lake area all year round is to dine on delicious food. Although our Lake of the Ozarks restaurant & bar will be closed for the season after October 31, you can still enjoy our sister restaurants, also located in Osage Beach.

Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina stays open a few weeks longer than the Dog, serving teh best Cajun food at the Lake of the Ozarks through November. They offer waterfront dining with an indoor dining area plus they have a cozy fireplace under a covered deck to fight that fall chill. They specialize in creative Creole cuisine that will make your taste buds think you're actually in New Orleans!

Wobbly Boots Roadhouse offers the best BBQ at the Lake of the Ozarks and this incredible restaurant & bar is open year-round. In addition to award-winning, hickory-smoked BBQ dishes, they also offer specialty sandwiches & wraps, homestyle side dishes, enormous salads, Southern comfort foods, juicy steaks, and a whole lot more. You can also catch all your favorite sports on their 21 TVs and giant projection screen.

Not Goodbye, Just "See You Later!"

As crazy as 2020 turned out to be all around the world, we still managed to make the most of it here at Dog Days Bar & Grill! As tough as it is to say goodbye when a season ends, it always helps to know that we'll all be seeing each other again in just a few months. (Sooner if we run into each other at Shorty Pants or Wobbly Boots!)

Keep yourselves and those around you safe and healthy this winter so maybe things can get "back to normal" by the time we open back up next spring. At least, let's make them a lot closer to the norm than this year was! And this week, be sure to stop by to kick it with us one more time before the party takes a break until next spring.

October is a Great Month to Celebrate Amazing Appetizers

We love discovering which food holidays the calendar has on it each month. This week in particular there are two special days that celebrate a couple of different menu items you'll find at Dog Days Bar & Grill. First up, October 21 is International Day of the Nacho, and right after that on October 22, it's Eat a Pretzel Day

Well, our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks is the perfect place to enjoy both of those fantastic food items. Here's a look at each of them plus the rest of our amazing appetizer menu items too. (Although our nachos are so big and delicious, they've got their own section of the menu outside of the appetizer section!

Gourmet Nachos

While many places have their nachos listed as an appetizer, here at the Dog, we serve the biggest and best nachos at the Lake of the Ozarks with incredible toppings that have earned our versions their very own section of the menu! The base for all of our nacho plates starts the same but after that, each one is deliciously different.

First, we start with a bed of corn tortilla chips, chile con queso, and shredded cheddar jack cheese. Next, depending on which version you decide to order, we pile on the delicious toppings below and serve it all up with salsa and sour cream on the side.

Jerk Chicken Nachos
Jerk dry-rubbed chicken thighs, pico, jalapenos, and shredded lettuce all drizzled with a roasted tomato jalapeno cream.

Buffalo Chicken Nachos
Hand-breaded chicken tenders chopped and tossed with Buffalo sauce, diced celery, bleu cheese crumbles, and jalapenos.

Seafood Nachos
Crab, shrimp, and scallops sauteed in a spicy Cajun sauce, pico, peppadews, and jalapenos.

BBQ Pork Nachos
Slow-smoked pulled pork, jalapenos, and sweet & spicy pickles all drizzled with bourbon BBQ sauce.

Beef Nachos
Taco-spiced ground beef, pico, jalapenos, and shredded lettuce all drizzled with a roasted tomato jalapeno cream.

Giant Pretzels

Now, for Eat a Pretzel Day, well, you'd better show up hungry if you're going to do that at Dog Days Bar & Grill! Our Pub Pretzel with Beer Cheese fills up an entire plate! These salted Bavarian pretzels are huge, making them a very hearty appetizer to indulge in alone.

To make them even more irresistible, we serve each giant pub pretzel with our Snapper IPA beer cheese sauce for dipping. For those of you unfamiliar with Snapper IPA, it is a delicious craft beer from our friends at Logboat Brewing Company out of Columbia, MO. We love eating it as a beer cheese sauce as much as we love drinking it as a refreshing beer!

Amazing Appetizers

The food holidays we find on the calendar give you an extra excuse to indulge in some favorite dishes. Of course, if you're not quite in the mood for nachos or pretzels, we've got a long list of other awesome appetizers for you to choose from too. For example:

Tuna Poke
Diced Ahi tuna tossed in a sweetened soy-ginger sauce served with diced mango, wakame, pickled ginger, cucumber, kiwi, wasabi cream, ginger sauce, and toasted sesame seeds and is served with fried wontons.

Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms
Giant mushroom caps stuffed full of garlic, sausage, scallions, and cream cheese and topped with Provel cheese, baked golden brown, and dusted with bread crumbs and fresh parsley.

Avocado Relleno
We take a fresh avocado cut in half, hand bread it, and fry it to a golden brown. It's served on a black-eyed pea salsa, topped with sweet and spicy sauteed shrimp, and drizzled in a roasted tomato jalapeno cream. You can also try it "beach" style and keep it fresh, not fried.

Hickory-Smoked Wings
Slow-smoked then fried crispy and tossed with one of our amazing sauces, served with crisp celery and your choice of buttermilk ranch or blue cheese dressing. Wing sauce choices include:

  • Bourbon BBQ
  • Teriyaki
  • Garlic Parmesan
  • 13-Pepper Dry Rub
  • Buffalo
  • Original
  • Lemon Pepper & Garlic
  • Hot Honey
  • Inferno

Southern Fried Chicken Tenders
Five hand-breaded chicken tenders, buttermilk breading, deep-fried golden brown and crisp, served with your choice of ranch, BBQ, or honey mustard. You may also try them tossed in one of our amazing wing sauces.

Peel and Eat Shrimp
Your choice served chilled or hot-boiled, served with fresh lemon and cocktail sauce in orders of 10 or 20.

Calamari
A half-pound of flash-fried curly calamari filets served with chilled spicy marinara and fresh lemon.

Crab Rangoon
Six fried wontons filled with cream cheese and crab, served with a sweet Thai chili sauce.

Crab Legs
Sweet, succulent snow crab clusters boiled in our southern spices, sold by the pound, and served with lemon and drawn butter.

Once you make it past the apps on our menu, there's a long list of delicious sandwiches, burgers, entrees, and more waiting for you to enjoy too. Join us soon at Dog Days Bar & Grill in Osage Beach and celebrate whichever food you happen to be hungry for that day, no holiday needed!

TRIPADVISOR REVIEWS

"Amazing Smoked Wings ~ First time to the Lake of the Ozarks. Our condo was right across the lake from Dog Days. I smoke my own wings and other meats at home but these smoked wings were absolutely amazing! I like it hot and the inferno sauce had a nice flavor and kick. Others in our group said their food was also excellent. It was the off-season compared to mid-summer but the service was still excellent. We would definitely be back again if in the area.

"LOVE THIS PLACE!! ~ We went there several times while we were staying there. Ended up almost raiding the store buying one of everything. LOVED our bartender Curt/Kurt. He was super kind, suggested drinks, and put up with us playing 20 questions. He kept us entertained and super sweet to talk too. The view is amazing! Love all the different level decks. They have large pretzels which I LOVE, and it was good. Caesar salad was really good as well. I will DEFINITELY go back!"

"Awesome Bar and Excellent Food ~ This is four different bars in one, including a swimming pool and a place for live music. The bar in itself is a treat, but the food is extraordinary."

"Cool Place, Great Food ~ My friends and I were staying in a condo right by Dog Days. One night, some members of the group wanted crab legs for dinner. We called Dog Days for the market price and decided to order carry-out. When we arrived at Dog Days, the lot was packed. I could hear a great 80s band playing upstairs. Because I could not find a place to park, I waited in the car while another woman went to get the food. There was SO much food she had to make two trips! All five of us got food we loved. They did not miss any sauces, condiments, or utensils. I would absolutely eat here again, and would love to stop in when I have more time."

Fight Cool Fall Temperatures with a Little "Heat" from the Dog Days Menu

Here in the lake area, you're never really sure if a fall day is going to be hot or cold. (Welcome to Missouri weather!) This time of year though, even on the warmer days it's bound to get chilly by the evening. As the temperatures begin to drop, you can warm yourself up with some of these fantastic menu items from Dog Days Bar & Grill.

Now, most of these dishes aren't going to put your ability to handle hot and spicy foods to the test. They do have just enough "heat" to give your taste buds a bit of a warm boost though. You know, just enough to give you an amazing meal to enjoy along with our breathtaking fall lake view. (Of course, upon request, the kitchen crew at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant & bar can up the heat a bit if you like!)

Hickory-Smoked Wings
Our wings can be tossed in a variety of sauces with varying degrees of heat. They are slow-smoked and then fried before being tossed in your choice of sauces. (You can also order our perfectly crispy Southern Fried Chicken Tenders tossed in one of these amazing sauces as well!)

  • Bourbon BBQ
  • Teriyaki
  • Garlic Parmesan
  • 13-Pepper Dry Rub
  • Buffalo
  • Original
  • Lemon Pepper and Garlic
  • Hot Honey
  • Inferno Sauce

The Inferno Burger
This unbelievable pepper dry-rubbed burger has a patty that is chargrilled then topped with ghost pepper cheese, sauteed onions, fresh jalapenos, and hot honey inferno sauce. For a small additional charge, we'll even let you order a side of ice cream to "cool the burn!"

Buffalo Chicken & Jerk Chicken Nachos
We've got 5 different versions of gourmet nachos at Dog Days, but these 2 types bring a bit of heat along with them. The Buffalo Chicken Nachos have hand-breaded chicken tenders that have been tossed with Buffalo sauce plus diced crisp celery, blue cheese crumbles, and jalapenos.

The Jerk Chicken Nachos have chicken thighs made with a jerk dry rub plus pico, jalapenos, and shredded lettuce drizzled with a roasted tomato jalapeno cream. Both types of nachos start with a bed of corn tortilla chips, chile con queso, and shredded cheddar jack cheese with a side of salsa and sour cream.

Ozark Sweet Hot Chicken
Hand-breaded chicken tenders tossed in our house-made hot honey sauce with a trio of melted Provolone, Swiss, and Provel cheeses served on a toasted hoagie.

Blackened Mahi Tacos
Mahi filets seared in Cajun spices with crisp cabbage, pico, and drizzled in roasted tomato jalapeno cream. If you're not in the mood for seafood, we also serve Blackened Steak Tacos and Jerk Chicken Tacos.

Like we mentioned above, most of these don't have enough "heat" to make you regret eating them later but rather just enough to warm you up from the inside out in the most delicious way! So the next time you get hungry, head on over to our lakeside bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and consider giving one of these delicious dishes a try.
