Not Goodbye - Just "See You Later!"

As much as we hate to say it, it's time to shut down your favorite Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant for the season. We know, we know... we dread this time of year too, but we had another amazing season, and we've still got until Saturday, October 28, 2017, to have some more fun. Make your plans now to get to Dog Days Bar & Grill before our season's officially over, and in the meantime, take a look back with us at all the exciting stuff that happened over the summer.

New Additions
When we opened on St. Patrick's Day, the brand new swimming pools and swim-up bar weren't quite finished yet, but eventually, all of that work was completed and our awesome customers had a summer full of pool time where there only used to be outdoor seating! There's even a kid-friendly section where they can play and splash away from the bar area so you can bring the whole family for a day full of outdoor fun.

Since the new construction took out our outdoor stage, we added a bigger, better one that's visible from the Dog Pound, the pool, and the restaurant's outdoor deck. And you probably thought we were already as amazing as we could possibly get! (wink)

Annual Events & Live Music
As expected, we filled the brand new Dog Days Bar & Grill stage, as well as our indoor stage, with many of your favorite mid-Missouri musicians all season long. We also brought back many of your favorite annual events, plus added a couple of exciting brand new ones. The LOMDA Spring In-Water Boat Show, 2nd Annual Homegrown Festival, White Party, Canine Cannonball, our rockin' stage for Bikefest, and Bogeys & Beer were anticipated by many and enjoyed by all!

New to the Dog this year was not 1, but 2 Log Jams at the Lake, taking place on July 4 weekend and Labor Day weekend. The crew from Columbia's annual Roots, Blues, & BBQ Festival, along with Logboat Brewing Company & 102.3 BXR, brought some unbelievable live blues music, great giveaways, and delicious local beer tastings for you to enjoy, and we hope they are willing to do it all again next year! We also hosted one of the lake area's first ever Silent Discos. It may have looked weird, but it was awesome!

New Menu Items
This year's menu contained many of our classic dishes, plus added a lot of new dishes featuring fresh ingredients full of healthy-goodness. The Beach Bowls were a huge hit, with the Chicken Stir Fry Bowl, Vegan Bowl, Maui Fish Bowl, and Thai Chicken Bowl.

Our limited-time specialty menus brought additional scrumptious recipes to you. These included: Sunny Spring Burgers, "Bowl Appetit" Specials, and the most recent Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey-Inspired Menu. All of them were incredibly well received, but don't worry if you didn't have a chance to try them out. We'll be brainstorming this winter to bring you even more exciting flavors next season!

More Coming Next Spring
It's been quite an eventful season at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant, and if you've been here lately, you've seen that we're already building on even more for next season! Construction continues for even more new additions, our creative cooks are already dreaming up new dishes, and our bartenders are always coming up with something unique and awesome.

As much as we'll miss all of your smiling faces after Saturday, it will give us time to get excited about seeing you again next spring! Before that, come on out and give Dog Days Bar & Grill a grand goodbye and let us thank you personally for helping to make 2017 another amazing season!

The Top 5 Reasons You Need To Visit Dog Days This Fall

The lake area is its own special brand of beautiful in the fall, and our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant is still open so that you can enjoy all of that beauty from our decks. Right now the weather is still amazing, but it will eventually get too cold for Dog Days Bar & Grill, and we'll have to close our doors until next spring. That's not right now though! We're still open, and we've got 5 incredible reasons why you need to get to the Dog this fall.

#1 - The Changing View
This is the time of year that all of that gorgeous foliage surrounding the breathtaking lake view that you can see from Dog Days Bar & Grill begins changing into all sorts of vibrant colors. Also, with fewer boats cruising by than during mid-summer, the water seems to be an even bolder blue. Sitting on our outdoor decks in autumn is a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience that we believe everyone should have.

#2 - Those Delicious Dishes
Our kitchen is still dishing up the best food at the Lake of the Ozarks. All of your favorite menu items are being served for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, beginning at 11 am. You're definitely going to want to eat here at least a few more times before we shut down the kitchen for the season. Give those taste buds something to remember and look forward to having again!

#3 - It's Not Too Cold For A Pain in the A**
Well, that statement really depends on a particular day's weather and your personal tolerance for cold, but there will be quite a few perfect days left this year to sip one of our famous frozen cocktails. If you do start getting a little chilly, we've got some awesome Dog Days sweatshirts available, and you can always move inside and enjoy the amazing autumn view through our windows.

#4 - You Can Watch Us Grow
Things started looking a lot different around here this year with the addition of those amazing pools, the bigger and better stage, and that incredible swim-up bar. We're not stopping there though! Construction is still underway for even more surprises next season. You can come in right now and get a good look at what's to come!

#5 - You're Going To Miss Us This Winter!
We're going to miss you too, but we'll keep ourselves busy preparing all kinds of exciting new stuff to share with you when we open back up next spring! Expect new mouthwatering menu items, creative cocktails, the most amazing entertainers to fill our concert schedule, and of course the additions that are already under construction! Right now, though, we need for you to get in here and spend some quality time with us while we're still open so we have plenty of great memories to last us through the off-season.

It's NOT Too Late!
You've still got time left to enjoy your favorite waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks before the season is officially over for 2017. We're still ready to make some more memories here at Dog Days Bar & Grill this year, and we want you to be a part of them. Head on over and join us soon for some fall fun!

(Update: Closing day has been set for Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, so come out and see us before that or you'll have to wait until next spring!)

We've Got Great Dishes For National Seafood Month

Since October happens to be National Seafood Month, it seemed like the perfect time to feature the delicious seafood dishes that you can enjoy when you dine at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. Many people know all about the succulent Crab Legs and savory Seafood Nachos you can get at Dog Days Bar & Grill, but we've got a LOT more on the menu in addition to those wonderful dishes.

Seafood is always a popular menu item, especially when you're sitting lakeside with "fish" on the brain. Our creative chefs have come up with some incredible combinations that will leave you full and satisfied, yet still craving more! Take a quick look at what we have in store for you, then get on down here and enjoy some of it!

Asian Shrimp Tacos
Sauteed teriyaki shrimp, crisp cabbage, pico, and shredded pepper jack cheese.

Blackened Mahi Tacos
Mahi filets seared in our Southern spices with crisp cabbage and pico in two flour tortillas and drizzled in roasted tomato and jalapeno cream.

Lobster Tacos
Fried lobster, cabbage, peppadew aioli, mango, and scallions in flour tortillas.

Seafood Nachos
We start with corn tortillas, chile con queso, salsa, and sour cream, then add crab, shrimp, scallops, Cajun sauce, diced tomatoes, peppadews, and jalapenos.

Crispy Lobster Bites
Deep-fried and served with peppadew aioli and fresh lemon.

Avocado Relleno
We take a fresh avocado, cut it in half, hand-bread those halves and fry them until golden brown. Then they're stuffed with sweet and spicy sauteed shrimp, Texas caviar, roasted tomato, and jalapeno cream. Try it "beach style" and keep it fresh instead of fried.

Shrimp Spinach Avocado Wrap
Grilled garlic shrimp with fresh spinach, sliced avocado, tomato, and peppadew aioli in a spinach tortilla.

Crab Legs
Sweet, succulent snow crab legs are boiled in our Southern spices and served with garlic butter and lemon.

Crab Rangoon
Crispy fried wontons filled with crab meat, cream cheese, and spices, served with mango chutney dipping sauce.

Ahi Tuna Platter
Seared yellowfin tuna, chilled and sliced thin, served with Napa cabbage, sesame ginger sauce, wasabi cream, and pickled onions.

Asian Tuna Salad
Grilled Ahi tuna, fresh baby greens, pickled beets, radishes, fresh mango, tri-color carrot nest, heirloom tomatoes, peppadew, and cucumbers.

Blackened Mahi Sandwich
Our Southern-spiced Mahi filet on a brioche bun, served with green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, lemon, and tartar sauce.

Baked Seafood Pasta
Sauteed scallops, shrimp, and crab meat in a garlic cream sauce with cavatappi pasta. We then top it with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese and bake it golden brown, served with a side dish, salad, and garlic toast.

Maui Fish Bowl
Blackened filets of Mahi-Mahi topped with peas, carrots, fresh mango, and a coconut curry sauce with long grain wild rice and quinoa.

Numerous studies state that a person should strive to eat seafood at least twice a week. With a menu like the one above, you'll be wanting to eat it way more often than that! Our family-friendly Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant has a wide variety of different tastes on the menu, made with fresh and savory ingredients. Dog Days Bar & Grill's season is far from over, but don't wait too long to join us. We'd hate for you to have to wait until next spring for this delicious food!

Join Us For The 32nd Annual Fall Harbor Hop! (Oct. 14, 2017)

The fun seems to never stop at the lake, and also right here at the best waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. The weather has been awesome, and we've still got the 32nd Annual Fall Harbor Hop to look forward to on Saturday, October 14. Just in case you're unfamiliar with this exciting day on the water, Dog Days Bar & Grill has all of the awesome details in this blog for you.

How Harbor Hop Works
Travel by boat to at least 7 of the more than 40 participating waterfront locations around the lake, picking up poker cards at each one to create a winning hand. You can get registered and get your hop started at any of the card stops for an optional $20 donation (per 7-card hand.) You are welcome to enter as many times as you like.

The first card will be drawn when you sign up, and you'll collect 6 more at 6 different stops. Your hand is complete as soon as you draw the 7th card, unless you choose to draw a bonus 8th card to give your hand an added boost for an additional $5. As long as your completed hand is turned in by 7 pm on October 14, you'll be eligible for the following prizes. Prize amounts depend on the amount collected for the Harbor Hop.

1st Place: 10%
2nd Place: 9%
3rd Place: 8%
4th Place: 7%
5th-10th Places: 5% each
4 Worst Hands: 4% each
Random Drawing for 10 Hands: 2% each

The Bonus: Section winners will be recognized from players that draw all 7 of their cards within a single section of checkpoints.

Wear Your Swimsuit!
Sure, the lake is getting a little too chilly to comfortably enjoy, but the heated pools at Dog Days Bar & Grill are just right! Plan to stay a while when you make your stop here because you're going to want to spend some quality time with us. The swim-up bar will be open, and we've even got a family-friendly area in case the kids are hopping with you this weekend. We are hosting 2 checkpoints at the Dog, so you get 2 cards for 1 stop, giving you a little extra time to spare!

Bars & Restaurants To Hop To
As we mentioned, there are over 40 locations that you can choose to "hop" to for cards, and these are divided into 4 sections. Dealers are subject to change, so you'll want to check the Harbor Hop website closer to the event for the final dealer list.
