Every weekend here at Dog Days Bar & Grill is an exciting one, but there's just something extra-special about a 3-day holiday weekend. One of the best things about Dog Days Bar & Grill is the fact that our stages (both indoors and out) host the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks every year. This Memorial Day Weekend is no exception and since there's an extra day in the weekend, we're adding an extra night of entertainment! The best pools at the Lake of the Ozarks are open and waiting for you to spend a little time in them. We've got a family-friendly side set apart from the pool with the swim-up bar. That means the kids have a fun area to play in and the grownups can play in an area made especially for them too! 

There are tables in the water and comfy, colorful lounges all around the pool area that will just be begging you to stay awhile and relax. Once you settle in, you're sure to be spending a large chunk of your weekend planted right here!

The Best Burgers & Specialty Sandwiches at the Lake of the Ozarks

Anyone dining at our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is sure to find something irresistible on the menu. We offer a wonderful variety of foods, including seafood, salads, steaks, specialty nachos, gourmet tacos, Beach Bowls, and more. 

Today's blog, however, will be taking a closer look at the best burgers and specialty sandwiches served daily at Dog Days Bar & Grill. With heaping helpings, fresh high-quality ingredients, and the addition of one of our delicious side dishes, these menu items are each fully satisfying meals. 

*Chef's Signature Burgers*

The Ozark
Our beef patty topped with bourbon BBQ, shoulder pepper bacon, and sharp cheddar cheese spread on a brioche bun. 

All American
A half-pound burger topped with American cheese on a toasted brioche bun served with crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, sweet onion, and pickles. Bacon is also available as an add-on. 

San Francisco Melt
Our Angus beef patty served on thick-sliced grilled sourdough with cheddar jack cheese, smoked bacon, green leaf lettuce, fresh sliced tomato, onion, and 1000 island dressing. 

The Old Fashioned
Two beef patties cooked on the griddle and topped with caramelized onions and American cheese on a brioche bun. 

Baja Burger
Our beef patty grilled and topped with pepper jack cheese, freshly sliced avocado, pickled jalapenos, and our Baja sauce on a brioche bun. 

Bacon Bleu Burger
Our beef patty grilled and topped with crisp bacon, crumbled bleu cheese, and bacon jam served on a cracked black pepper and sea salt brioche bun. 

*Specialty Sandwiches*

Dogwood Avocado Club
Shaved smoked turkey breast, ham, crisp bacon, green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, fresh avocado, Swiss and American cheese, and garlic mayo on wheatberry bread. 

Blackened Mahi Sandwich
Our Southern spiced Mahi filet on a brioche bun served with green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, onion, lemon, and tartar sauce. 

Steak & Cheese
Seared beef tender tips with provolone cheese on toasted French bread. Add-ons include peppers, onions, or mushrooms. 

Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich
Charbroiled chicken breast topped with smoked ham, grilled pineapple, teriyaki glaze, and Swiss cheese on a brioche bun. 

Grilled Chicken Sandwich
A 7-oz. chicken breast chargrilled on a brioche bun served with green leaf lettuce, sliced tomato, sweet onion, and mayo. Add-ons include bacon or avocado. 

Bourbon BBQ Pulled Pork
Slow-smoked pulled pork drizzled with our sweet bourbon BBQ sauce and spicy pickles on a cracked black pepper and sea salt brioche bun. 

Like we said before, these mouthwatering sandwiches and the best burgers at the Lake of the Ozarks aren't your only choices when you dine at Dog Days Bar & Grill. They are definitely great choices to make, but in reality, every dish on our menu is going to make you very, very happy! 

Currently, we are open 7 days a week beginning at 11:00 am and our awesome pools are open and waiting for you as well. (The water still feels amazing!) The lake area is an incredible place to be with all kinds of fun things to do year-round. 

For example, the Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest 2019 is going on this week and the Fall Harbor Hop is coming up in October. We've got some dates open this fall in our luxurious Lake of the Ozarks vacation house rental. It's located right next door to the Dog with that same breathtaking lake view and all the comforts of home, plus a few more!

August = Pool Parties & Awesome Live Music at the Dog!

How are you enjoying summer so far? If you've been hanging out with us at Dog Days Bar & Grill, then you've definitely been having a blast! Well, get ready because August at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant is going to keep the party going strong!

We've got a few special events happening this month. An awesome Pinkini Pool Party is coming up right away. A talented local musician, Jared Hicks, whose song "Camdenton" went "lake viral" online will be hosting a special evening of music. (More on him in next week's blog!) Join us for some poolside Sunday Fun Day with the good folks from Flipback. We're celebrating Shelly Flippo's birthday with this 1st Annual Pinkini Pool Party and you're all invited! 

Grab your favorite pink swimwear and chill with us by the pool. Ya girl's fav DJ, DJ Curt, will be spinning the perfect party music for all of you "pretty in pink" people. We'll also have specials on Effen, Zambu, and Frose (aka frozen rose.)

The Best Place to Celebrate the Dog Days of Summer is Dog Days Bar & Grill!

Dog Days Bar & Grill would like to officially welcome you to the Dog Days of Summer! These occur on the calendar in the United States from July 3-August 11, but of course, they happen at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant and bar spring through fall every year! The calendar definition is slightly different than our definition though. Learn all about both below. 

According to the Calendar
The period of time designated on the calendar as the "Dog Days of Summer" are the hottest, most sultry days during the season. Some feel that these are the most uncomfortable days in the Northern Hemisphere, where all you feel like doing is laying around and being lazy. 

The phrase originated around Sirius, also known as the Dog Star, the brightest proper star in the night sky. The name literally means "glowing" in Greek, and it's constellation is Canis Major (Greater Dog.) 

In ancient Greece, they noticed that the re-appearance of Sirius in the night sky was a precursor to the hottest phase of summer. Greek poets wrote about how the return of the brightest star brought with it heat and fever, and that the combination of Sirius' light with the sun's had an effect on plants, animals, and women as well as men. Alcaeus advised all to "steep your lungs in wine" before the arrival of the star since "women are at their foulest but men are weak since they are parched in head and knees." What? Sounds strange, but the wine thing sounds good to us!           

Beat the Heat at the Dog
Here at Dog Days Bar & Grill, our "Dog Days of Summer" aren't a lazy, miserable, heat-soaked time. Instead it's an awesome period of time when the sun is shining and everyone can stay cool in the best pools at the Lake of the Ozarks sipping frozen cocktails and enjoying fresh, delicious menu items. We celebrate the mid-summer portion of our season by hosting amazing annual events, like the upcoming AquaPalooza 2018, and keeping the party going with incredible live music. For example:

The Pool & That View
The best place to beat the heat is in our pools. We offer a family-friendly area where people of all ages can enjoy some time in the water, and our other pool offers poolside lounge chairs, in-water tables, and a fantastic swim-up bar. 

The view from our decks and the Dog Pound have always been magnificent, but now that we've added the brand new Woof Top Patio, you can get a bird's eye view of the main channel, making it even more breathtaking. From up there, you can get a great view of what's going on at the pool and throughout the rest of the place too. 

The Events
Another way that we make the Dog Days of Summer exciting is by throwing all kinds of amazing annual events all season long. We've already hosted 2 Log Jams this year, the extremely popular Canine Cannonball, and our White Party, and we've got a LOT more excitement coming your way.

First and foremost, AquaPalooza 2018 is right around the corner on Saturday, July 21 from 1-5 pm. This lakeside concert is the biggest single day boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks, and always quite a sight to see, but even better to take part in and enjoy! Not long after that, we'll also be hosting a Silent Disco, Budweiser Pool Party, another Log Jam, plus much more. Throw in all of the dates that we've scheduled the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks to play our indoor and outdoor stages, and you know that this is the place to be if you like to have a good time!

The Food & Drinks
Last, but certainly not least, while you're here you can enjoy the delicious items coming out of both our kitchens and our bars. There are appetizers like our Hickory-Smoked Wings and Drunken Ginger Tuna to get you started, an excellent selection of Nacho varieties, Signature Burgers, Specialty Sandwiches and Salads, Beach Bowls, and delicious entrees like our Crab Legs, Ribeye, and Baked Seafood Pasta. 

Heading over to the bar, you'll find all of your summertime favorites including Rum Runners and Pain in the A**. We also have a list of creative cocktails we've come up with on our own, plenty of ice cold beer, plus a fully stocked bar for mixing up whatever you like. Now that's a refreshing way to keep cool! 

So there you have it. Here at the best waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, the Dog Days of Summer aren't a miserably hot time to dread and hide indoors, but rather an excellent experience full of fun, refreshment, and great memories waiting to be made!

Exciting Events Coming To Dog Days Bar & Grill This June

With another successful Memorial Day Weekend in the books, it's time to look forward to some of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks coming to Dog Days Bar & Grill next month, June 2018. Luaus, pool parties, and of course, the ever-popular Canine Cannonball! Check out the awesome events below, then get them marked on your calendar so you can for sure be here. 

Start of Summer Luau
Sunday, June 3
Okay, technically the first day of summer won't officially happen until June 21, but we're going to start celebrating its arrival early! Zambu is helping us throw an outstanding luau complete with everything you need to feel like summer is already here. Join us at the Zambu Bar on the top of our brand new Woof Top Deck for refreshing cocktails, bombs, and shots featuring the delicious Zambu.

Zambu is a vodka-based, handmade liqueur infused with an edible exotic flower from the Amazon that gives you a unique and pleasant tingling sensation when you drink it. To go along with all of those delicious drinks, we'll be having a hog roast with lots of tasty side dishes. You can spend the day mingling with the promo girls by the pool and enjoy the musical talents of AZ-1 on our outdoor stage.     

14th Annual White Party
Tuesday, June 5
Start tanning now and get your best white outfits ready to wear because it's nearly time for the party event of the summer - our 14th Annual White Party at the Dog! This fantastic event got its start at our sister restaurant, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, but got so big and popular that they passed the torch on to us. There's a strictly all-white dress code, and we'll be partying out by the pool to the sounds of DJ Vinyl Richy and CEO, and indoors with the talented Taz 1 and Doc C. We'll have Effen Vodka and Red Bull drink specials all night long, and if you're sharing photos on social media, be sure to tag all of your pictures with #dogdayswp18.  

Canine Cannonball
June 8-10
This much anticipated family-fun event is a favorite every year. We set up a big pool down by the lake and dogs, along with their handlers as coaches, compete to see who is the best jumper in 3 different categories - Big Air, Speed Retrieve, and Extreme Vertical. The Dogwood Animal Shelter, a local no-kill shelter, will be here too, just in case you want to adopt a 4-legged family member of your own to take home after the event! We also have a fundraiser with Tito's Vodka going on right now until the end of Canine Cannonball weekend. Through their "Vodka for Dog People Program," which aims to rescue needy animals, we'll be raising money to benefit the Dogwood Animal Shelter. $10 from every drink on our special cocktail menu will go to the shelter, plus Tito's Vodka will match that $10! As an added thank you, every drink comes with your choice of a leash, chew-toy, or water bowl to take home.

By this time summer will officially be here, so Budweiser is hosting an awesome party at the Dog in the best pool at the Lake of the Ozarks. They'll have their promo team giving out all kinds of goodies and samples of their newest products. You get to chill out by the pool and wait for the always amazing Rosy Hips to take the stage for an entire day and night full of excitement! 

All of that June excitement leads us into July with its own set of the best events at the Lake of the Ozarks, like the 4th of July, another Log Jam, and of course everyone's favorite, AquaPalooza! One of the many ways that we keep things exciting for the return customers at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant is by offering limited time specialty menus throughout the season. This Labor Day Weekend at the Dog is Jam-Packed!

What are you doing for Labor Day weekend? It's only a few days away, and the best waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks has come up with quite a few reasons below why you need to get yourself to the Dog this holiday weekend!

*The Labor Day Log Jam
Last week's blog told you to "Get Ready for the Labor Day Log Jam at the Lake," and we hope you arranged your plans so that you won't miss it! Columbia's own Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival team, Logboat Brewing Co., and 102.3 are joining the Dog for a party on Saturday, Septempber 2 from 12:30 pm - 5:00 pm that you DO NOT want to miss. 

Logboat Brewing Co. will have samples of their delicious beer for you to try, and there will be cool free stuff given away all afternoon too. The festival team will be bringing a taste of the amazing music you can experience at the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival in September with King Benny from Louisiana, MO. Check them out in the amazing video below. 

*The Pools
Surely you've had a chance to experience the best pools at the Lake of the Ozarks already this year, but if you haven't, be sure you take a dip this Labor Day weekend. We can only keep it open as long as the weather cooperates, and you never know how quickly Autumn weather will sneak up on us.

The larger pool has an awesome swim-up bar so you don't have to leave the water to quench your thirst, and there are even tables with umbrellas in the pool to hold your drinks. You'll also find some colorful lounge chairs to, well, lounge in, also in the water, plus plenty of comfortable seating all around the pool area. 

Our smaller pool is a family friendly area, separated from the swim-up bar, where your kids can splash to their heart's content without getting pool water into someone's drink. Adults can seat themselves on the divider in-between and enjoy the best of both worlds! 

*The Treats
All of those things mentioned above will keep you entertained while you are at Dog Days Bar & Grill, but it's the amazing food and incredible drinks that bring you here in the first place! This season's food menu features many of your traditional Dog Days favorites, like Crab Legs, Seafood Nachos, and our Chef's Signature Burgers. We've also added many new items that have been extremely popular over the summer. If you haven't gotten a chance to try our Beach Bowls yet, get over here before we close for the season! We've added some unbelievable variations on your average taco, too. 

Between the tiki bar in the Dog Pound overlooking the water, the inside bar, and the newly built swim-up bar (which can also be accessed on one side out of the water,) a refreshing drink is always close at hand. Whether you're in the mood for a frozen cocktail, an ice-cold beer, or a hand-mixed cocktail, we've got it all!

Some people may try to convince you that the lake area shuts down once Labor Day weekend is over, but they are VERY wrong about that! Eventually we'll shut down for the season, but not right away, and sometimes the weeks after this holiday are some of the best to plan a visit. Fewer crowds to wrestle with, but still all the same fun to be had!

The next big event that our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant is excited about is the Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest, taking place September 13-17. We'll have more about that gigantic event next week. Until then, decide which of the things happening above you simply cannot miss, then fit them into your Labor Day weekend itinerary. (You're more than welcome to stay for them all!) Dog Days Bar & Grill is the best place to celebrate your holiday, and we always have a lot more fun when you're here with us!
