Meet the Bands of AquaPalooza 2019 at the Lake of the Ozarks

It's time for another one of the best annual boating events at the Lake of the Ozarks - AquaPalooza 2019! This Saturday, July 20 from noon-5 pm, Dog Days Bar & Grill will become a waterfront concert venue featuring 4 amazing bands. Thousands of people, both on the water and on dry land, will be here to enjoy the show and you need to be one of them! 

This FREE lakeside concert is the biggest one-day boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks. Hundreds of boats will fill the cove and in the water there will be people chilling out, floating, and having a great time in front of the stage. On land, there will be vendor booths, our incredible pools, and of course your favorite food & drinks being served all day long. 

On stage, that's where you'll find the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks! Here's a look at this year's AquaPalooza entertainment. 

Chris Weaver Band
This Americana/Rock band takes their influences from rock, blues, Motown, and general Americana music. They rocked the AquaPalooza stage in 2017 and already packed the Dog earlier this year in March.  

The Chris Weaver Band earned the chance to play on two of the best live music stages in Nashville, The Stage on Broadway and The Tin Roof. They were also named as one of the "Top 10 Acts to Follow" in 2013 by Billboard. That same year their song "California High" was used in the soundtrack of the motion picture "A Matter of Time." They have traveled the country opening for popular entertainers like John Mellencamp, Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago, Heart, and more. The band has acquired a tremendous following in Brazil too. Don't miss your chance to hear them at AquaPalooza 2019!

SuperJam
The band's name invokes the glory of a bygone era. A time when the rock was so immense, only stadiums could contain it and that's exactly what this amazing group's sound will be bringing to you from the AquaPalooza stage! This mighty quintet of St. Louis rockers are bringing back the incredible days of screaming guitars, racks of keyboards, ear-splitting vocals, soul-crushing bass, and killer rock poses. 

Some of the spectacular re-creations they will treat you to include music by artists such as Asia, Billy Squier, Boston, Deep Purple, Foreigner, Journey, Kansas, Rush, Steve Miller Band, Styx, Queen, The Who, and many, many more. This is truly a musical experience you do not want to miss!  

Machine Gun Symphony
This face-melting 80s metal tribute band will have you thinking you traveled back in time! Exploding on stage amid a flurry of hairspray and screeching guitars, Machine Gun Symphony is not your typical cover band. They bring back an era where excess is a way of life and these musicians masterfully pay homage to the bands that created music to define a generation. Get ready to hear many of your favorites from Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Poison, Guns 'N' Roses, and a whole lot more. 

Dirt Road Addiction
These fellas play loud and always come to party! They've got a rock/country sound that has been described as "Jump-Country." That's because people tend to crowd the stage and jump around to the infectious rhythms and electric vocals. You will be thoroughly entertained by a heavy mix of modern country, rock, and pop. They cover familiar hits you love as well as their own incredible original music. Dirt Road Addiciton's debut EP premiered in the spring of 2019 and debuted in the Top 10 of Country Music on iTunes and Amazon!

More Music, Before AND After!
Go ahead and plan to spend the entire weekend right here at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant & bar because our musical party is going on all weekend long! 

First up on Friday night, Dirt Road Addiction will hit the Dog Days stage. Once the AquaPalooza concert is over on Saturday, the Doc Cheese & Taz 1 Drum & DJ Show will continue the excitement poolside from 6-10 pm. But wait... there's more! From 10 pm-1 am the Chris Weaver Band will perform again and they'll also be back for another show on Sunday night.

Are You Ready? It's AquaPalooza Time at the Lake of the Ozarks!

We just celebrated the 4th of July (& it was quite an exciting party! The only way Dog Days Bar & Grill knows how to celebrate an extended holiday weekend.) Now that the 4th has come and gone, it's time to start thinking about the upcoming best annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks - AquaPalooza 2019! Saturday, July 20 is going to be here before you know it, so you'd better start making plans to join us right now.

What is AquaPalooza?
Most of you probably rolled your eyes reading that question because just about everyone knows exactly what AquaPalooza at the Lake of the Ozarks is. There are a few sheltered folks that have not yet discovered the joy of this exciting event, and for those people, here's a quick explanation followed by all the exciting details for this year. 

AquaPalooza is the biggest single-day boating event in the lake area. It consists of a lakeside concert from noon-5 pm made up of 4 awesome bands. There will also be all of your favorite Dog Days food & drinks, vendor booths, giveaways, and more! 

Thousands of people attend this incredible event each year. Hundreds of boats will be parked in and around our docks for a prime view of all the action, but you can both hear and see the stage from the restaurant too. 

All-Day Fun In & Out of the Water
No matter where you land that day, you're most definitely going to have a good time! We'll be serving our out-of-this-world menu for both lunch and dinner and cranking out all of your favorite drinks from all 4 bars. 

Party-goers come from all over the country to attend AquaPalooza. The waiting list for dock slips alone fills up a year in advance but no worries, because any boaters that don't get a slip simply tie up to each other and fill the entire cove with watercraft! In between those boats, the lake is filled with people on floaties, sitting back, relaxing, and having a grand old time with all the new friends they're meeting.    

As we mentioned earlier, the party will be hopping equally as hard on land at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant as well. We've got those amazing pools (one complete with a swim-up bar) for you to cool off in. There's plenty of lakeside seating in the dining areas. We've also got the covered Dog Pound tiki bar and our amazing Woof Top Patio that boasts a breathtaking lake view. And of course, if the heat gets to be a bit too much for you, you can also pop inside the indoor dining room and bar for a spell.

On Saturday of 4th of July Weekend, we're hosting another Log Jam with Logboat Brewing Company the Roots N Blues N BBQ (RNBNBBQ) Festival team. Logboat will bring the beer samples, the RNBNBBQ team will bring an awesome sampling of the music you'll hear at their festival in the fall, & Dog Days brings, as always, the incredible atmosphere and fantastic food & drinks! Another July means it's time for another AquaPalooza! Quite possibly the best annual event at the Lake of the Ozarks, AquaPalooza features an out-of-this-world lakeside concert with 4 fantastic bands. Thousands of people flock to this event every year to enjoy the show from both on land and in the water. 

The music goes on all day long and once that show is over, we simply move the entertainment back up to the restaurant & bar for more partying all night long as well! Pool Parties, a Log Jam, & AquaPalooza... Oh My! - Awesome July Events at Dog Days Bar & Grill

Okay, technically the first upcoming event at Dog Days Bar & Grill is happening on the tail end of June, but it hasn't happened quite yet and it's just too awesome to leave out! There's always something exciting going on at our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks and if you join us in July, you're going to have the time of your life! 

Electriquarium Nightswim Party
Saturday, June 29
10 pm-1 am
Join us for the first ever Electriquarium: A 21+ Nightswim Experience at the Lake of the Ozarks! This unique after-dark pool party will feature light shows, animated lasers, mermaids, and a ton of other surprises as the best lakeside pool at the Lake of the Ozarks is transformed into an underwater playground! 

Dance the night away (in or out of the water) to your favorite music provided by DJ Styles. We'll also have specialty drink cups with great drink specials to fill them with from Effen Vodka, Cruzan Rum, and Hornitos Tequila. Each of those brands will have promotional teams present with samples, cool prizes, and awesome giveaways! And now for the best part... there’s NO COVER!!

Independence Day Log Jam
Saturday, July 6It's become a tradition for Logboat Brewing Company and the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival (RNBNBBQ) to join us at the Dog each holiday weekend down by the pool and this 4th of July is no exception! Logboat brings the beer, the RNBNBBQ team brings the music, and Dog Days provides the awesome atmosphere and fantastic food. 

During the Log Jam we'll be showcasing the acts you can expect to hear at the RNBNBBQ Festival next fall followed by the Baub Eis Band live on stage from 6-10 pm. Swing on by for an afternoon full of great music, cold beer, and lots of cool giveaways. After that, stick around for our Saturday night poolside DJ and more of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks on our indoor stage that evening with the Mixtapes.

It' time once again for one of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks - AquaPalooza at Dog Days Bar & Grill! Four talented musical acts will take the waterfront stage for an unbelievable show that can be enjoyed from the water and from dry land.

Dog Days Donates to the Dogwood Animal Shelter

Last weekend a favorite Lake of the Ozarks annual event took place down by the water at Dog Days Bar & Grill - the Canine Cannonball. Not only is this awesome event fun to both watch and participate in, but it also allows us to raise awareness and some much-needed funds for the Dogwood Animal Shelter.

The Dogwood Animal Shelter

Each year our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant & bar uses the Canine Cannonball as a chance to let our local animal shelter share their mission with everyone in attendance. The Dogwood Animal Shelter sets up a booth with items for sale and pets that are waiting to be adopted. 

The Dogwood Animal Shelter has been around for more than 4 decades. In 1997 it was declared a no-kill facility. They were able to build a long-awaited new shelter facility in 2005 allowing them to offer spay/neuter surgeries on-site. 

Dogwood receives no public assistance funding. Volunteers and donations keep the shelter running and it is dependent on them to stay open. Fundraising events are held throughout the year and the Dogwood Thrift Store is open 6 days a week at 311 S. Business Rte. 5 in Camdenton too.  

At the 2019 Canine Cannonball

Verna Cooper, a Dogwood representative, recently wrote to let us know how successful their Canine Cannonball appearance was for the shelter this year. She reported that:

• $3,308 was raised at their booth!
• Two new volunteers were recruited!
• Two dogs, Rocco & Panda, both found fur-ever homes! (Rocco makes a quick appearance in the video shared below.)

"First, I want to tell you how thankful we are at Dogwood for your support. The ability to raise money and adoption awareness in such a wonderful environment is priceless. You have assembled a truly wonderful team at Dog Days and it was a pleasure interacting with them. As I noted during our conversation, we could very well end up with more adoptions as these events start family conversations about adopting a pet.

A Donation From the Dog to the Dogs  

In addition to the money Dogwood raised at their own booth, we at Dog Days Bar & Grill along with Tito's Vodka were able to present the animal shelter with an initial donation of $10,000 this year! 

A portion of our Canine Cannonball event t-shirt sales goes to Dogwood every year. We also offer Tito's dog toys and collars for a limited time in the Dog Days Gift Shop for $10 each. All of that money goes directly to the local shelter plus Tito's Vodka matches that amount with a $10 donation of their own!  

If you have been thinking about adding a new four-legged family member to your household, contact the Dogwood Animal Shelter for details on exactly how you can do that. They are often at full capacity and are always searching for good "fur-ever" homes for the many loving dogs and cats sheltered there. 

Who knows, you just may end up adopting next year's big winner at Dog Days Bar & Grill's 2020 Canine Cannonball event! Head on over to Dogwood soon so you have plenty of time to bond with each other and start training for next year.

From Las Vegas to Lake of the Ozarks - Phil Stendek LIVE at the Dog!

Dog Days Bar & Grill has recently added to our incredible 2019 lineup of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks. One of the newest additions is the extremely talented Phil Stendek on Thursday, June 20. It's been a few years since Phil has graced the Dog Days' stage but every time he's here, he's a huge hit! 

One-Man Band
Phil Stendek is a one-man musical sensation from Las Vegas that creates the sound of a full band, all on his own! He accomplishes this through a very complicated art form called "looping." 

Originally hailing from St. Louis, MO, Phil began a foray into music in the early 90s by playing with local bands around his hometown. After discovering the art of looping in 2002, all of his focus and dedication went into perfecting that craft. 

His sound is a powerful arrangement of Acoustic-Pop music with an emphasis on Reggae and Funk but he is able to delve into many different genres as well. The songs he performs are powerful, the musicianship is impressive, and the live show is super-energetic and always entertaining.   

What is Looping?
Phil has impressively mastered the talent of live looping. It involves equal parts dexterity and creativity combined with an incredible musical ability. He earned the title of BOSS US Looping Champion in 2010. Here is a quick breakdown of how it all happens.

Phil takes a guitar, drum set, keyboards, turntables, and a microphone and records a short passage of each instrument's part individually into a foot-operated recording device called a loop station. After being recorded, these parts can be played back instantly and layered over each other to produce the sound of a full band. Phil has gotten so good at this skill that he often layers two instruments simultaneously to speed up the process!

Now that you know the date that Phil Stendek will be at our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks (Thursday, June 20, 2019) be sure to get your calendars marked, plans made to be here, and phone calls made telling your friends to do the same! It will be a perfect evening by the water. Come in a little early to enjoy dinner off of the best menu at the Lake of the Ozarks and then stick around for a few cocktails and this amazing performance. 

If you're coming from out of town, make it a long weekend! Go ahead and head down a day early for a 3-day weekend and plan to spend your bonus day off chilling in our awesome pool. There will be more amazing music going on all weekend long. We've got the always entertaining DJ Kyle on Friday, June 21, and another Dog Days favorite, the Mixtapes, rocking the house on Saturday, June 22. Another exciting extended weekend at Dog Days Bar & Grill. Believe us, you're going to be sad if you miss it!

Join Us for the Canine Cannonball THIS WEEKEND at the Dog!

Many of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks happen right here at Dog Days Bar & Grill. One in particular that people look forward to every year is the Canine Cannonball. This family-friendly event is fun for both those participating and those simply watching all the action unfold. 

Canine Cannonball 2019
If your four-legged family member enjoys jumping in the water as much as most of us do here at the lake, then you'll want to get your team signed up for the Canine Cannonball! This year's event is happening Friday-Sunday, June 7-9. 

We'll have a great big pool set up down by the water and our four-legged competitors will take turns to see who is the best jumper in the lake area. Dogs are always welcome at Dog Days Bar & Grill any time during the season, not only during this event. We just ask that they are on a leash and get along well with others.  

Benefitting the Dogwood Animal Shelter

The local no-kill shelter, the Dogwood Animal Shelter, will once again be onsite with four-legged friends for you to add to your happy family. Who knows, you may just adopt next year's big Canine Cannonball winner! We will also be selling souvenir Canine Cannonball t-shirts in both of our gift shops, now through the event, and proceeds raised from the t-shirt sales will go directly to the Dogwood Animal Shelter. 

Event Details

The competition is open to all dogs and their handlers, and there are 3 categories in which to compete. Teams may compete in 1, 2, or all 3 events. Those events area explained below, followed by the weekend's schedule. 

• BIG AIR - This is a long jump for dogs. They may begin at any point on the 40' dock. When ready, they run and jump as far as they can after a toy thrown into the water by their handler. The distance between the end of the dock to the point where the jumper's tail set breaks the water's surface is logged as the official distance.
• EXTREME VERTICAL - This is a high jump for dogs. They begin at the 20' mark on the dock. A bumper toy is extended 8' from the end of the dock over the water. Jumps begin with the toy at a height of 4'6" and that height is increased by 2" increments as the competition progresses. 
• SPEED RETRIEVE - In this event, dogs once again begin at the 20' starting mark on the dock. A bumper toy is suspended 2" above the water at the far end of the pool with a starting indicator light above it. Once that light turns green, the handler releases their dog, the time clock begins, and it stops as soon as the dog pulls the toy from the bracket.
