Join Us for the Canine Cannonball THIS WEEKEND at the Dog!

Many of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks happen right here at Dog Days Bar & Grill. One in particular that people look forward to every year is the Canine Cannonball. This family-friendly event is fun for both those participating and those simply watching all the action unfold. 

Canine Cannonball 2019
If your four-legged family member enjoys jumping in the water as much as most of us do here at the lake, then you'll want to get your team signed up for the Canine Cannonball! This year's event is happening Friday-Sunday, June 7-9. 

We'll have a great big pool set up down by the water and our four-legged competitors will take turns to see who is the best jumper in the lake area. Dogs are always welcome at Dog Days Bar & Grill any time during the season, not only during this event. We just ask that they are on a leash and get along well with others.  

Benefitting the Dogwood Animal Shelter

The local no-kill shelter, the Dogwood Animal Shelter, will once again be onsite with four-legged friends for you to add to your happy family. Who knows, you may just adopt next year's big Canine Cannonball winner! We will also be selling souvenir Canine Cannonball t-shirts in both of our gift shops, now through the event, and proceeds raised from the t-shirt sales will go directly to the Dogwood Animal Shelter. 

Event Details

The competition is open to all dogs and their handlers, and there are 3 categories in which to compete. Teams may compete in 1, 2, or all 3 events. Those events area explained below, followed by the weekend's schedule. 

• BIG AIR - This is a long jump for dogs. They may begin at any point on the 40' dock. When ready, they run and jump as far as they can after a toy thrown into the water by their handler. The distance between the end of the dock to the point where the jumper's tail set breaks the water's surface is logged as the official distance.
• EXTREME VERTICAL - This is a high jump for dogs. They begin at the 20' mark on the dock. A bumper toy is extended 8' from the end of the dock over the water. Jumps begin with the toy at a height of 4'6" and that height is increased by 2" increments as the competition progresses. 
• SPEED RETRIEVE - In this event, dogs once again begin at the 20' starting mark on the dock. A bumper toy is suspended 2" above the water at the far end of the pool with a starting indicator light above it. Once that light turns green, the handler releases their dog, the time clock begins, and it stops as soon as the dog pulls the toy from the bracket.

Join Us This Weekend

If you get jealous watching the dogs have all the fun in the water, both of our pools will be open for you to take a dip in yourself. Our kitchen opens at 11:00 am daily, so feel free to spend the entire day right here eating, drinking, swimming, and watching these four-legged athletes compete! 

If you're able to stick around for some evening fun as well, we've got DJ Dr. Cheese spinning all of your favorite hits on Friday night. Then, on Saturday, the always entertaining Rosy Hips will take over the stage at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant. There's never a dull moment at Dog Days Bar & Grill and when you're here, things get even more exciting!

2016 Gala of Trees Holiday Event at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse

We feel like we get to have all the fun in the summer being the best waterfront bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, but our sister restaurant, Wobbly Boots Roadhouse, just keeps getting to have all of the fun this fall. First, they were a part of the Lake Stock Fall Crawl, they are consistently the best place to watch all your favorite sports, and now they are hosting the annual Lake of the Ozarks Gala of Trees, November 17-19! 

What is the Gala of Trees? 
Dog Days Bar & Grill realizes that many people prefer to put thoughts of Christmas off until after Thanksgiving, but there's a wonderful reason for filling Wobbly Boots BBQ with tons of decorated trees and wreaths the week before Thanksgiving. This event raises money to share between the Lake Ozark Rotary and the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club so that they can purchase Christmas gifts for families that might not otherwise get to celebrate the holidays this year.

Lake Regional Hospital generously donates the trees and wreaths, and local businesses and organizations volunteer to decorate them with all sorts of unique items. People are then asked to bid silent-auction-style on each of them during the 3-day event. Winning bidders will get to take home these fully decorated items, and local area children will get to have a happy holiday because of those generous donations.   

Thursday Night Kickoff Event
It is free to bid on the trees and wreaths during the event, but on Thursday evening, there will be a special kickoff party at Wobbly Boots Roadhouse. Tickets for that are $20 each, and everyone in attendance will get to enjoy delicious appetizers and soups, one glass of Gala Punch, and the exclusive chance to win a Gala Christmas Wreath that will be given away that very evening at 9 pm. The remaining auction items will be on display until Saturday night. 

Final Bids 
The excitement builds until Saturday evening when final bids will be taken. The incredible Dale Blue will be entertaining the crowd while last-minute bidders cast their bids. The lucky winners will then be allowed to take their beautifully decorated prizes home. 

Don't Miss It!
It only takes a little time to stop by the Gala of Trees and place a bid on your favorite holiday tree or wreath. While you are there, we highly suggest you get a taste of our sister restaurant's unbelievably delicious, hickory-smoked BBQ. We're pretty proud of them, and we just know you're going to love it!

Exciting New Event - DUELING DOGS August 5-7, 2016

The Canine Cannonball is one of our most popular Lake of the Ozarks annual events. That particular event has already taken place this year, but get ready, because Dog Days Bar & Grill is bringing you the latest and most exciting competition in Canine Aquatics Sports: Dueling Dogs! A thrilling, side by side, two lane, head to head competition. 

Exciting New Competition!

Friday through Sunday, August 5-7, 2016 we will be hosting this awesome new competition for the lake area. While the Canine Cannonball lets one dog at a time compete in a variety of different categories, Dueling Dogs puts two dogs side by side in a race to be the fastest. 

Teams consisting of one canine and one handler duel against another team by racing down a platform into a body of water. Once the dog hits the water, they must be the first to retrieve the object at the end of the pool. 

Join the Fun

Canines must be at least 6 months old, and handlers need to be at least 7 years old. You can sign your team up online at www.DuelingDogs.net to make sure that you claim a spot. You may also register at Dog Days Bar & Grill the morning of the events. Friday and Saturday registration and practice begin at 10 am, and on Sunday it starts at 9 am. On-site registration is on a first come, first served basis. 

Qualifying rounds will be held throughout the day all weekend long. The final qualifying rounds will start at 5 pm Friday & Saturday, and 2:30 pm on Sunday. Dueling Dogs Finals will take place at 4 pm on Sunday. Be sure to check the full Dueling Dogs schedule for more qualifying duel times.

Guess What's Waiting For You at AquaPalooza This Year!

Just a few more days and it's here - AQUAPALOOZA 2015!!!!!!  (We're a little excited!) Last week's AquaPalooza blog gave you the details about the best live music event at the Lake of the Ozarks, and this week we are going to fill you in on the great things that will be waiting for you here this weekend.  Your favorite waterfront restaurant has got some pretty awesome stuff happening! 

THE MUSIC

Dog Days Bar and Grill always has an impressive lineup of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks, but this weekend is even bigger than the rest.  AquaPalooza goes from noon until 5 pm, but after that we keep the party going until 1 am with two bonus performances.  

Noon - 5 pm:  AquaPalooza

State Line Drive

This talented bunch of guys play country/pop music.  The band is made up of two sets of brothers plus their bandmate, all from Missouri.  When they realized the potential of their blended harmonies and mix of talents, State Line Drive was born.    

Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs

They bring a mix of the best of the 70's to the stage.  This group is proud of their boogie lifestyle, and it shows in their energetic, highly entertaining performances.  

Double Vision, A Tribute to Foreigner

If you are a Foreigner fan, then you will love the Midwest's premier tribute band, Double Vision.  Members from three of Kansas City's favorite bands- Vandelyn Kross, Monkey Finger, and London Drive- have come together to pay tribute to a legendary band.  

Members Only

A Lake of the Ozarks favorite 80's tribute band, this group plays all of your favorite music from one of the best decades.  The show is high energy, loaded with fun, and sure to keep you dancing and singing throughout. 

When AquaPalooza is over, the music starts back up on our regular Dog Days stage.

Our extensive Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant menu has a variety of flavors to please everybody.  You will find Wobbly Boot Wings, Nachos, Chef's Signature Burgers, Specialty Sandwiches, Entrees, a yummy Kids' Menu, and more.  July also features a limited-time Sizzlin' Summer Shrimp Menu, and our exclusive Friday & Saturday Late Night Menu.  We can feed you before, during, and late into the night after AquaPalooza.  

THE DRINKS

You can find a list of drink suggestions on our website menu along with a beer and wine list , or you can rely on our talented bartenders to mix up something special for you. The beer is always ice cold, and our frozen concoctions can't be beat.  We have plenty of spirits on hand to keep you cool and refreshed all weekend long.

AquaPalooza 2015

It's that time of year again!  Dog Days Bar and Grill is gearing up for AquaPalooza 2015- the largest family boating event at the Lake of the Ozarks.  There will be hundreds of boats and thousands of people spending five entertainment-filled hours rocking away to the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks.

You can come by boat and watch from the water, or arrive by land and enjoy all of the music and the vendor village from the restaurant.    

The Entertainment

The music starts at noon and isn't over until 5:00 pm, featuring Members Only, State Line Drive, Disco Dick and the MirrorBalls, and the Foreigner tribute band Double Vision.  

The party doesn't have to stop then though.  Pearl will be taking the Dog Days stage from 5 pm - 9 pm, and then Members Only will be back to close out the evening from 10 pm - 1 am.

July's Epic Events at Dog Days Bar and Grill

July at the best waterfront bar and restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks brings along with it the biggest holiday and the biggest concert of the Summer.  The Fourth of July is happening the first weekend, a couple of weeks later is our amazing AquaPalooza concert on the water, and we'll be bringing you the very best entertainment at the Lake of the Ozarks all month long throughout all of July.

Our Sizzling Summer Shrimp Menu is here for one more month, we serve a Late-Night Menu every Friday and Saturday between 10pm & midnight,  and we've got a bar full of the coldest drinks for the hottest holiday of the year.   

AquaPalooza, the largest one-day family event at the Lake of the Ozarks, is a concert right on the water featuring four amazing live bands.  People from all around pull up their boats and enjoy the music, the water, and everything else that Dog Days has to offer.

Our Sizzlin' Summer Shrimp Menu & Canine Cannonball 2015

Our newest featured menu at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is all about the shrimp.  The kitchen is cooking up plenty of tastes to tempt you, paired up with some pretty amazing drink specials coming out of the best Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar. 

This weekend is also our annual Canine Cannonball Competition, June 12-14.  It's definitely going to be an incredible weekend to make a trip on over to Dog Days Bar & Grill.

THE FOOD:

Three Way Shrimp

We will prepare half a pound of jumbo shrimp your choice of three ways, Island Spiced, Blackened or Scampi Style. Served with lemon and fresh greens. Half Pound $13.99

Roasted Garlic and Seafood Dip

We roast whole garlic cloves and scallions and blend it with cream cheese, shrimp and crab meat.Then topped with mozzerella and Parmesean cheese and toasted golden brown. Served with tortilla chips for dipping. $14.99

Peel and Eat Shrimp

We boil half a pound of jumbo shrimp in creole spices and serve them with lemon and cocktail sauce. $12.99

Coconut Shrimp

Hand breaded with shredded sweet coconut and fried golden brown and served with mango dipping sauce. $11.99

Shrimp Tacos

Spicy fried shrimp in a flour tortillas with green cabbage, pico de gallo, sweet thai chile, with jalapeno ranch. $12.99

Shrimp Avocado Wrap

Sundried tomato tortilla with chilled shrimp, fresh avocado, greens, and a lemon garlic aioli. $12.99

Carribean Style K-Bobs
Grilled shrimp and spicy sausage skewers served  with a teriyaki glaze, grilled pineapple, piquant peppers on a bed of black beans and rice. $19.99

One of our freshly muddled mojitos with a splash of watermelon puree.

Banana Cream Pie
Irish cream, banana liquor, and vodka blended with ice cream and banana puree.

Southern Comfort and a blend of passion fruit puree, lime juice, and dark cherries.  Very comfortable.

Vodka & peach iced tea - Perfect!

Pinnacle Cucumber Vodka with Red Bull Sugar Free and a splash of cranberry juice. 

Cinnamon Pudding Shot
