The August music calendar at our waterfront restaurant & bar at the Lake of the Ozarks includes a special performance from a talented local musician, Jared Hicks. On August 15, 2019, at 6:00 pm he'll be putting on a concert with a few of his musical friends right here at the Dog. Here's what you need to know about this up-and-coming artist.
Jared Hicks
Local singer/songwriter Jared Hicks grew up at the Lake of the Ozarks. "Just west of Camdenton," to be exact, which is clearly stated in one of his newest songs. You can view Jared singing "Camdenton" on his Facebook page. This particular video struck a chord with local residents, both current and former, and quickly went "Lake viral."
Jared wrote his first song with his brother and cousin when he was around the age of 12 or 13. A few years ago, after quitting his job to focus on his music, trips were made to Nashville about once a month to write. Since then, he has been fortunate enough to have some of his songs recorded by other artists.
There are a lot more songs ready to be recorded though, and Jared realized it was about time he released a few of his favorites on his own! A new album is in the works and you can follow the progress of that journey through The Camdenton Project Facebook page.
Concert at the Dog
Here is a message directly from this talented musician about the concert he's performing with a few friends at Dog Days Bar & Grill on August 15, 2019.
"When I recorded my song “Camdenton” on my phone and decided to post it to Facebook, I had no idea what that would start. I’ve been wanting to release a few of the songs I’ve been writing and now is the time. I’m excited to get in the studio and can’t wait for y’all to hear what I’ve been working on.
All this costs money so we’re planning a fun night for everyone. Trying to raise a little money to put towards recording costs.
There’s going to be a silent auction. I’m going to auction off one of the first guitars I ever owned. I’ll also have some hand written lyrics of a few of my songs. And we’ll see what other cool stuff I can think of between now and then."
Jared has a few friends taking the stage that night as well. The talented Nicole Akers Knight will be performing, as will James Dupre who is passing through the area from Nashville on a radio tour.
