A Weekend FULL of EXCITEMENT - Spring Harbor Hop & the Homegrown Festival

If you're looking for a one-stop-shop for all of the fun and excitement you can possibly pack into one weekend, look no further than the best waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks! Okay, technically this first event requires you to make a few stops, but the liveliest, most thrilling stop by far will be Dog Days Bar & Grill! 

21st Annual Spring Harbor Hop
Saturday, May 5
You know boating season at the Lake of the Ozarks has officially begun once the Spring Harbor Hop rolls around! This is the largest Poker Hop on the water, with over 40 amazing waterfront bars, restaurants, and marinas participating. Anyone can play.  You can begin your hop at 1 of the 2 card stops located at Dog Days Bar & Grill, or at any of the stops on the list found on the Harbor Hop website. There you will find additional details and a complete set of rules too. 

It's a good thing we've got 2 card stops for you to take advantage of, because you're going to want to stick around for a while and enjoy the awesome music of Mercer & Johnson from 1-5 pm. Once you're done hopping for the day, come on back for great entertainment all night long. The Baub Eis Band hits the stage from 6-10 pm, and after that we've got Pearl from 10 pm-close. 

All it takes is an optional $20 donation per 7-card hand. Your first card is drawn when you sign up, and then you spend the day hopping from stop to stop, picking up a new card at each one. The hand is complete once the 7th card is drawn and is turned in when that happens. An optional bonus card may be drawn for an additional $5 if you think your hand needs a little help. All completed poker hands must be turned in by 7 pm to qualify for prizes.    

3rd Annual Homegrown Festival
Sunday, May 6, 10 am -5 pm
The Homegrown Festival brings Missouri's best wineries, breweries, distilleries, and musicians to Dog Days Bar & Grill! Missouri is known as the "Show-Me State," and during this event, you're really going to be shown what amazing things are created right here in our great state. For just $10 you will get a glass for tastings at each vendor's table, and the proceeds raised from the entry fee will benefit a wonderful local organization, Kids Harbor. 

Some of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks is lined up to entertain the crowd during this festival. Each band has been featured on the Homegrown Show at one time or another, which airs every Sunday at 11:00 am on 93.5. This year's bands include: 

• Don't Mind Dying
  A blues-infected rock 'n' roll band from Columbia. They have won many awards and they released their first full-length LP "I Drink With Ghosts" in 2017.  
• Rosy Hips
  They perform a retro rock 'n' roll soul sound with a modern Indie pop flair that is sure to get you on your feet. They currently have an album out and will be releasing another soon.     
• Mood Ring Circus
  An eclectic bunch of fellows from Springfield who love to hang out and make sounds for you to enjoy. They describe their genre as indiejamrock&rollfunkyfolkjazzgroovemusic! 
• Many Colored Death
  These guys are an alternative rock trio from Columbia. They were a crowd favorite at the Dog two years ago and we're anxious to have them back on our stage. 

While you're enjoying all of that fantastic Missouri-made music, you can sample the many Missouri-made beers, wines, and more from each of our local vendors. This year brings a wonderful variety of some of the tastiest drinks in the state.

Two More Lake of the Ozarks "Can't Miss" Events at Dog Days

Everyone at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant loves to be able to help our local community when we can, and we are honored to get the chance to work with wonderful groups that contribute to worthy causes and raise money for exciting events in the lake area. You have two different chances to join us at Dog Days Bar & Grill in the next couple of weeks to be a part of this.  

Idiots Club Fundraising Kickoff
Saturday, April 28 at 3:00 pm 
The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club members are not actually idiots, but rather brilliant people that found a way to help local youth in need and have some fun while they do it! They host fundraising events at various lakefront restaurants during the summer, and they are kicking off this year's schedule of events right here at the Dog.

Many people do not realize that over 65% of the kids in the lake area live in poverty, and it is a situation that needs attention. This group was founded in 2014 by Denny & Danna Hiner, retirees of the Camdenton School District that had seen the needs of their many students firsthand. Those needs vary greatly, from new clothes for a homeless child, to sports equipment for a student that couldn't otherwise afford to play, to a car battery for a high school kid living on their own.

Money is raised through annual memberships, which are only $5, as well as the sales of t-shirts, hats, koozies, and lanyards. In 2017, 1,079 members signed up, and this year they would love to increase that number. In the nearly 4 years since this charity began, the group has been able to provide more than 10,017 child assists with a retail value of over $270,000. Thanks to the help of donations and discounts from business partners, the Idiots Club only had to pay $165,000 of that amount. They do not work directly with families, but rather through counselors, social workers, school nurses, and others that know the children personally and what is truly needed.

Wacky Wager Event
presented by the Can-Am Police-Fire Games
Tuesday, May 1, 5:30-7:30 pm
The lake area is hosting this year's 2018 Can-Am Police-Fire Games (as well as the games in 2020!) The main event is an Olympic style competition which lasts for 6 days, June 25-July 1, for Canadian and American Emergency Responders, their spouses, and their children ages 18 and older. All proceeds from the 2018 Can-Am Police-Fire Games go to Special Olympics MO.   

Leading up to the games, there are monthly socials to raise money to put on this special event. Dog Days Bar & Grill is thrilled to be hosting their Wacky Wager Event. This is a great big shout-out to fun and adventurous people that would like to help bring these games to the Lake of the Ozarks with a bit of wacky fundraising. Can-Am Police-Fire Games volunteers will be bartending in costume beside our regular Dog Days bartenders, and you can get in on the costumed action too! 

We challenge you to challenge someone you know to dress up in the wackiest costume you can think of - superhero, mermaid, gorilla, etc... They need to raise at least $50 to participate, which will be collected at the Wacky Wager Event. More than likely, the more money you pledge to them, the "wackier" they will be willing to dress up! The person that raises the most money not only gets bragging rights, but also will receive an Amazon gift card. Decide who you will challenge, or choose to take on the challenge yourself, and start collecting those donations! It's sure to be a very interesting evening!

Many of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks take place at Dog Days Bar & Grill, and we've got a very popular one coming up - the LOMDA In-Water Boat Show - plus a brand new beer pairing dinner on top of our brand new "Woof Top" Patio! LOMDA In-Water Boat Show
LOMDA is once again bringing the Spring In-Water Boat Show to the docks of your favorite waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks! Friday-Sunday, April 20-22, 2018, our dock slips will be filled with the newest watercraft for you to get an up-close and personal look at. There will be lots of tents set up on land, too, showcasing the latest and best items you will need for an awesome summer on the water. 

This is a great way to get the excitement for a brand new season of fun on the Lake of the Ozarks started. Tickets are $6 for anyone 13 and older, and kids 12 and under get to check it all out for free.

• Sunday, April 22, 10 am-4 pm

Logboat Beer Social
Now is the time to buy your tickets for a delicious evening on Thursday, April 26, 2018, taking place atop our newly built Woof Top Patio. You can enjoy the unbelievable view of the gorgeous Lake of the Ozarks from an incredible vantage point while dining on delicious Dog Days foods paired with some of Logboat Brewing Company's best beers. 

Dinner takes place from 5:30-7:30, ending just before sunset, which is scheduled to happen around 8 pm. We're expecting it to be even more beautiful than usual when it's seen from the Woof Top Patio!

Dog Days Bar & Grill's Signature Nachos & Tacos

You'll find lots of delicious menu choices at the best waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, so it's easy to please everyone in your group. Among those choices are some foods that are generally thought of as Mexican cuisine, but here we've added our very special Dog Days Bar & Grill touch to create Nachos and Tacos like you won't see, or taste, anywhere else! 

Our Nachos and Tacos have always been popular menu items here at the Dog. Don't expect the typical types you'd expect to get at a regular Mexican restaurant. Our Nachos and Tacos contain ingredients you won't normally be offered, such as hickory-smoked pulled pork and succulent seafood. If you're in the mood for something kind of familiar but worlds above what you're used to, give one of the following menu items a try the next time you visit us. 

NACHOS
All of the nacho creations at Dog Days Bar & Grill begin with a bed of crispy corn tortilla chips, plus chile con queso, salsa, and sour cream. From there, you can choose one of the following styles for a nacho experience like no other!  

BBQ Pork
Slow-smoked pulled pork, jalapenos, pickles, and Bourbon BBQ. 

Spicy Beef
Seasoned ground beef, pico, jalapenos, cheddar jack cheese, shredded lettuce, and roasted tomato jalapeno cream sauce. If you prefer, chicken can be ordered instead of beef for $1 more.  

Seafood
Crab, shrimp, scallops, Cajun sauce, diced tomato, peppadews, and jalapenos. 

Tuna Poke
Chilled yellowfin tuna tossed with a sweetened soy ginger sauce, diced mango, wakame, pickled ginger, wasabi cream, and sesame seeds on top of fried wontons.  

TACOS
All taco meals at the Dog are served with curly fries, or you can substitute one of our delicious signature sides for a small additional charge. Salsa and sour cream are available upon request. 

Jerk Chicken Tacos
Smoked with island spices, cabbage, peppadews, sweet corn, and sweet and spicy jerk sauce. 

Asian Shrimp Tacos
Sauteed teriyaki shrimp, crisp cabbage, pico, and shredded pepper jack cheese. 

Blackened Mahi Tacos
Mahi filets seared in our Southern spices with crisp cabbage and pico on two flour tortillas drizzled with a roasted tomato and jalapeno cream. 

Spicy Beef Tacos
Ground beef, shredded lettuce, cheddar jack cheese, pico, and roasted tomato and jalapeno ranch. 

Steak Tacos
Blackened tender tips with our Southern spices, cheddar jack cheese, pico, roasted tomato and jalapeno cream and cabbage in two flour tortillas. 

Once you decide which of those culinary masterpieces to order, you may also want to get something cool and refreshing to wash it down with. We've got ice-cold Corona and marvelous margaritas for you to choose from, as well as a host of other delicious drinks from the bar. You can enjoy it all lakeside on our fantastic deck, or join us indoors if you need to get out of spring showers or intense summer heat.
