MarineMax

Over 15 years ago, a group of boat retailers came together to improve the boating industry and get their customers out on the water. By maximizing efficiency of operations while sharing best practices on all aspects of the boating industry with each other, this great idea became a reality. The Homegrown Festival - Missouri Beer, Wine, & Music

This Sunday, May 15, our waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks will be home to the Homegrown Festival, featuring Missouri's best beer, wine, and live music. Dog Days Bar & Grill is thrilled to host this awesome lake area event from 12 pm-5 pm

You don't have to travel far to get an amazing drink or hear some of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks. Missouri is full of talented people that are masters of their crafts. Our decks will be lined with tasting booths for a few of this state's finest breweries and wineries, and the stage will feature the most amazing musicians around.

THE BEER

Bur Oak Brewing Company
Columbia, MO is home to this incredible brewery. Their stylistic craft beers are brewed with the intention of bringing communities together.

Leaky Roof Meadery
Buffalo, MO produces mead. Beer is made from yeast, wine is made from fruit, but mead is made from honey. More precisely, the fermentation of honey, water, and yeast. Since it contains no malt, it is naturally gluten-free.

O'Fallon Brewery
Founded in 2000 in O'Fallon, MO, for the first 2 years they offered only one style of beer and you could only get it in St. Charles County. They now offer six everyday beers, along with many seasonal and "Brewer's Stash" varieties.

Springfield Brewing Company
SBC is a staple of the Springfield, MO downtown community. They brew one of a kind, supremely drinkable beers, and they have been doing that since 1997. They have received many awards over the years, including the World Beer Cup gold for their Mayhem Marzen.

Urban Chestnut Brewing Company
This delicious brew comes from St. Louis, MO. They categorize their unique brewing philosophy as "Beer Divergency." It's a new world meets old world brewing approach, combining American beer & European beer styles.

Shock Top Brewing Company
St. Louis, MO also brings us the popular beer from Shock Top. The signature Belgian White you are familiar with started out as a seasonal brew named "Spring Heat Spiced Wheat." Since then, they have grown to add a wide variety of full-flavored beers.

Mother's Brewing Company
Mother's out of Springfield, MO is a growing family that's all about heady craft beers. They are committed to artistic craftsmanship and brewing craft beers that make life's everyday moments anything but.

This Kansas City, MO brewery has grown to be the largest specialty brewer in the Midwest, with full or partial distribution currently in 31 states and Washington DC. Since 1989 the brewery has remained dedicated to the craft of producing fresh, flavorful beers using traditional ingredients and the best of both old and new brewing techniques.

At Logboat from Columbia, MO, they brew the beers they like to drink. They constantly try to innovate to brew new, unique, and interesting beers to keep things fresh and exciting. Beer is meant to be enjoyed with friends and family in a social setting.

THE WINE

Casa de Loco Winery
Lake of the Ozarks own Casa de Loco out of Camdenton, MO will be at this year's Homegrown Festival. Get a taste of the many delicious wines that come from the winery with a very "crazy" history.

Stone Hill Winery

Stone Hill Winery owns 7 beautiful vineyards located within the Hermann Viticultural Appellation. These are comprised of the following varieties: Norton, Vignoles, Vidal, Chardonel, Cayuga, Vincent, Chambourcin, Vivant, Concord, Catawba and Traminette. They also purchase Catawba, Concord, Norton, Traminette, Chardonel, Vidal, Seyval and St. Vincent grapes from several independent grape growers located throughout the state of Missouri.

THE MUSIC

From 1-5 pm, the best bands in Missouri will grace our Dog Days stage. Scheduled to appear are:

  • Baub Eis Band
  • Grayson Wood Band
  • Scott V. Miller Band
  • Many Colored Death

All of these artists have been featured on the Homegrown Show on 93.5 Rocks the Lake. Expect to hear original music from these musicians, not just the covers many bands play. The radio station will be dong a live remote from the Homegrown Festival on Sunday, and the concert will be broadcast live.

See you Sunday!
We boast the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks, and this Sunday, May 15 from noon-5 pm, Dog Days Bar & Grill will have the best beer, wine, and live music in Missouri, all in one spot. Join us for this awesome event, and be sure to stick around after to hear the fantastic CMT artist, Brian Collins, perform. It's going to be another unbelievable weekend at the Dog!

For a Limited Time - Dog Days' Mahi Mega Menu!

Last month, our Sunny Spring Specials Menu was a huge hit. How in the world do we fill the void it has left? Well, with May's equally amazing Mahi Mega Menu, of course! Your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks always has a little something extra-special in store for you when you visit, and this month it's all about this mild, almost sweet, tropical fish and the delicious fruity flavors that complement it so well.

Dog Days Bar & Grill, Lake of the Ozarks, May Mahi Mega Menu

Dog Days Bar & Grill has come up with a delightful food and drink menu that will tempt your taste buds. Not only is it mouth-watering, but it's good for you too. Mahi is an excellent source of extra lean protein. It's also low in both saturated fat and sodium, and it's rich in niacin, vitamin B-12, phosphorus, and selenium, providing about 400 mg of omega-3's. Take a look at what our chefs have created to make you forget how healthy it is and simply concentrate on the deliciousness.

Mahi Mega Menu

Mahi Fingers

Hand breaded and fried to a golden brown. Served with a honey habanero dipping sauce.

Mahi Tacos
Spicy Mahi filets seared and placed in flour tortillas with crisp cabbage, pico de gallo, and jalapeno lime sauce. Served with black beans and rice.

Island Mahi Wrap
Blackened Mahi, roasted red pepper rice, black beans, and pineapple drizzled with sweet Thai chile sauce and Sriracha aioli inside a sun dried tomato wrap. Served with your choice of side.

Asian Mahi Sandwich
Mahi filet char-grilled, topped with grilled pineapple, Char-siu and sauteed leeks on a spicy brioche Bun.

Crab Stuffed Mahi
Mahi filet stuffed with snow crab meat, cream cheese, and fresh herbs. Topped with a smoked Gouda and roasted garlic cream sauce. Served on a bed of rice with a side salad.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Yellow cake baked with pineapple and cherries, with a brown sugar and pineapple whiskey brown butter sauce.

Drink Menu

Pineapple Whip
Whipped vodka and pineapple juice. Tastes like it should be served from a roadside stand with a Hula Girl on top.

Mango Moscato Creamsicle
Cruzan Mango Run, Moscato Wine and mango puree blended with ice cream.

Nada Coloda
Pineapple rum, coconut rum and Sprite Zero. Light and refreshing. Tastes like a pina colada, but it's not!

Watermelon Mojito
One of our freshly muddled mojitos with a splash of watermelon puree.

Banana Cream Pie
Banana liquor, Irish Cream and vodka blended with ice cream and banana puree. YUM!

Honey Beamernade
We mix fresh lemon and mint with Jim Beam Honey and Minute Maid Lemonade.

Mother's Backyard Cucumber Saison

Light, crisp, golden saison with fresh cucumbers and hints of citrus zest. Comes from Springfield, Missouri.

Those refreshing drinks from our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar are the perfect complement to the island flavors of May's Mahi Mega Menu. Now that we've made you hungry, get on over to the Dog before these treats are gone at the end of this month. Just in time for the 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop this Saturday, May 7, 2016, you'll have the chance to draw a winning poker hand at Dog Days Bar & Grill while you enjoy a taste of the tropics. We're sure you'll be back often this May, and wait until you taste what we have in store for June...

How to Get a Winning Harbor Hop Poker Hand

The 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop is a popular subject lately. Boating and poker are both at the top of everyone's conversations here at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks. Harbor Hop happens on Saturday, May 7 this year.

The whole point of the day is to get out on the water and get another incredible boating season under way. That said, there is some competition involved, and everyone loves to win. The name of the game is poker, and just in case you are unfamiliar with the rules, or maybe a bit rusty, Dog Days Bar & Grill has summarized the different types of poker hands for you below. They are listed in order of lowest to highest hands.

High Card
After all of the cards are dealt, if you have none of the combinations listed below, you need to rely on your highest ranking card. A really good bluffer, and a stroke of bad luck for the entire table, can occasionally make this horrible hand a winner. If everyone has nothing, the highest card wins.

Two of a Kind (Pair)
This should be pretty self-explanatory. The matched cards must be of the same rank. In the case of a tie with another player, the one with the highest card of the remaining three is the winner.

Two Pair
Also exactly as it sounds, a player has two pair and an extra card. If more than one player has two pair, the highest fifth card denotes the winning hand.

Three of a Kind
Yes, you've got it, three cards of the same rank. A tie is won by the highest of the remaining cards.

Straight
A hand with five cards in sequential order that are not from the same suit. The highest card in a tie of two straights wins.

Flush
When you hold five cards of the same suit that are not in sequential order, you have a flush. In the case of two flushes, the highest card is the winner.

Full House
This happens when you have three of a kind plus a pair. Between two full houses, first look at the rank of the three of a kind, and if it's the same, move on to the pair to decide the winner.

Four of a Kind
Four cards of the same rank. Highest fifth card decides the winner in a tie.

Straight Flush
You must have five cards in sequential order that are all of the same suit. Highest top card wins a tie.

Royal Flush
A straight flush containing the high cards: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10. This hand cannot be beat, but watch out, because it can be tied. In that case, you'll just have to split the pot.

photo from Funlake.com

The Spring Harbor Hop will have 17 different winners this year. Fourteen will need to be earned, ten will be drawn randomly, and four are even being given out for the worst poker hands. In our opinion, everyone that participates gets to win by enjoying an exciting day on the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. We love boating weather!

Our sister restaurant, Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina, is a card stop and has some of their own excitement happening all day long on Saturday, May 7. As for this Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant, we'll be going strong all day long too. Harbor Hop cards have to be turned in by 7 pm, but we're not done then.

Travis Marvin takes the stage from 1-5 pm, Steven D. Hunt will take over from 5-9 pm, and then we've got the Travis Marvin Band from 9 pm - 1 am. Dog Days Bar & Grill is the place where the party never stops! Best of luck to all of you Harbor Hoppers. Have a great time, and remember to stay safe, boat responsibly, and have a sober captain on board. We want to see you back many more times over the summer.

It's Almost Spring Harbor Hop Time - Saturday, May 7, 2016

Last week your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks hosted an incredibly successful In-Water Boat Show, and now it's time to look forward to the exciting 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop that is only a couple of weekends away. The boat show is all about how you can get yourself on the lake, but Harbor Hop is all about actually getting out there and enjoying the ride, and Dog Days Bar & Grill will be right here in the middle of it all.

Harbor Hop Weekend at Dog Days
Dog Days is a great place to begin your Harbor Hop journey. It's an even better place to finish up your poker hand and stick around for a night full of fun. If you are in need of a boat rental for the day, BomBay Boat Rental Company can be found right here at the Dog Days dock. Reserve your boat or jet ski early before they are all spoken for.

No matter what time to choose to visit us during the day, there will be a lot going on. As always, we'll have delicious food and fantastic drinks, but in addition to that you can expect the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks all day long. This year for Spring Harbor Hop we've got an amazing lineup of talent.

  • Travis Marvin 1-5 pm
  • Steven D. Hunt 5-9 pm
  • Travis Marvin Band 10 pm-1 am

HOW TO HOP

The 19th Annual Spring Harbor Hop will be taking place at various restaurants, bars, and marinas all over the lake on Saturday, May 7, 2016In case you are new to this awesome annual Lake of the Ozarks event, this is how it works. Grab a bunch of friends, hop in your boat, than head to one of the many checkpoints listed below to begin. (We highly suggest Dog Days Bar & Grill, or maybe even Shorty Pants Lounge & Marina.)

At your first checkpoint, you may pay an optional $20 donation and receive your first card. From there, you will "hop" to six more Harbor Hop checkpoints, collecting one card at each to form a 7-card poker hand. If you choose to pay an extra $5, a bonus 8th card may be drawn to give your hand a better chance. The hand will be turned in at your seventh stop.

All poker hands must be turned in by 7 pm to qualify. Winners will be notified by mail. All prizes depend on the amount of money that is collected from the poker hand donations. The Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau retains 60% of the money to promote the Lake of the Ozarks. The remaining 40% will be divided among the winners in the form of gift certificates.

Prizes will be given out for places 1-10, plus the 4 worst hands, a random drawing for 10 hands, and 4 bonus section winners. It breaks down like this.

1st Place: 10%
2nd Place: 9%
3rd Place: 8%
4th Place: 7% each
5th - 10th Place: 5% each
4 Worst Hands: 4% each
Random Drawing for 10 Hands: 2% each
(all ties will share the allocated percentage for the placing)

The Bonus
In addition to the regular prize winners, a section winner will be recognized. To be eligible to be a section winner, a player must draw all seven (7) cards within one of the four sections listed below.
