A Silent Disco, Another Pool Party, & Great Live Music This August at Dog Days

This is our final full week of July, and next Wednesday we'll be starting in on a fun-filled August at Dog Days Bar & Grill. In addition to the amazing live music we always have here for you on the weekends at our waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, we've got a couple of awesome events coming your way too!

Silent Disco
Sunday, August 5
We debuted this incredible party last year, and it was an absolute blast! In case you missed it and have no idea what a Silent Disco is, here are the basics. When you arrive for this evening of dancing and partying, you will be given wireless headphones. All of the music being played that night will be streamed through those headphones, and if you don't have a pair on, then it will just look like a bunch of people dancing to silence! 

You don't have to worry about waiting for your favorite music to play, because we'll have 3 different DJs spinning AT THE SAME TIME! One will be playing only Country/Rock, another will play EDM (Electronic Dance Music,) and the last will be playing Top 40/Hip-Hop/Pop music. You can switch between the different streams of music with your headphones at any time that you like. 

Each genre of music will have a designated color, and when you're listening to that channel, your headphones will light up with that color so fellow dancers can see just what you're busting a move to. The dance party starts at 9 pm, and there is no cover charge to attend but there will be a small fee for the headphone rental. 
  

Budweiser Pool Party
Saturday, August 11
When you have the best lakeside pool at the Lake of the Ozarks (complete with a terrific swim-up bar) you simply have to throw the occasional pool party. It would be a wasted opportunity not to! On Saturday, August 11 our regularly awesome pool will be even more exciting with live music, giveaways, prizes, samples, and a lot more. You're welcome to come on by and "swim" any day of the week, but make sure that you mark this party on your calendar now so that you don't miss a moment of this extra-special day at the pool.

Dog Days Bar & Grill's 2018 Opening Day is Friday, March 9th!

It seems like forever since last fall when your favorite waterfront bar & restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks closed down for 2017, but the long wait for fantastic frozen drinks, incredible food, and amazing live music at Dog Days Bar & Grill is almost over! Our opening day for the 2018 season will begin at 11:00 am, Friday, March 9, and we expect to see all of you there at some point over that weekend! Here's what you can expect when you join us. 

NEW Kitchen
We are extremely excited about our brand new kitchen! Last year we had a few growing pains trying to keep up with the many additional orders we had due to all of the new seating. Our original, smaller kitchen wasn't set up to handle all of those extra people, but this year, we're ready for all of them and more! Chef Kevin is especially excited about creating all kinds of incredible dishes in what he's calling his new "Food Lab."    

NEW Rooftop Patio Bar
Everyone here at the Dog is also anxiously awaiting the opening of our brand new rooftop patio bar. We expect it to be the most popular spot to hang out this summer. The view from up there is out of this world! You will enjoy an amazing vantage point for the main channel of the Lake of the Ozarks, the Grand Glaize Bridge, and even our very own pool area. 

Awesome Events and Live Music
As always, we've got some of the best annual events at the Lake of the Ozarks in the works for you. A few things are still in the planning stages, but we do have dates set for some of the big ones. 

• LOMDA In-Water Boat Show - April 20-22
• Spring Harbor Hop - May 5
• Homegrown Festival - May 6
• AquaPalooza - July 21 

Our stages, both inside and outside, will be welcoming back all of your favorite live music acts, plus we've even found some brand new bands to entertain you. The music and event schedule on our website will be updated as we get more dates filled in, but here is a sneak peek at some of the awesome acts we've got for you in March.

Those Incredible Pools
We won't have our pools open right away, but as soon as we're sure that the weather isn't going to take another drastic change and the warmer temperatures are here to stay, we'll let you know when to get those swimsuits out. In case you are unfamiliar with the setup, we have one pool that is family-friendly, and the other has a spectacular swim-up bar and plenty of in-water tables to hold your drinks.  

Fantastic Food & Drinks
Last, but certainly not least, we'll be serving up all of your favorite summertime foods and those amazing drinks you love! Expect to see a few new dishes on the menu too. 

Just as we have in the last couple of years, we'll be kicking off the season with an Irish-themed Limited-Time Menu in honor of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day. (That holiday happens to fall on a Saturday this year, so we expect it will be even more fun than usual!) We'll be featuring that menu in next week's blog, so be sure to keep an eye out for it! 

All of us here at Dog Days Bar & Grill are so glad that we have the majority of the construction behind us and those plans have become a reality! We are especially thankful that this year we have actual restrooms completed for use outside instead of those porta potties from last year. (They were better than nothing, but we're so happy they won't be needed anymore!)

Not Goodbye - Just "See You Later!"

As much as we hate to say it, it's time to shut down your favorite Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant for the season. We know, we know... we dread this time of year too, but we had another amazing season, and we've still got until Saturday, October 28, 2017, to have some more fun. Make your plans now to get to Dog Days Bar & Grill before our season's officially over, and in the meantime, take a look back with us at all the exciting stuff that happened over the summer.  

New Additions
When we opened on St. Patrick's Day, the brand new swimming pools and swim-up bar weren't quite finished yet, but eventually, all of that work was completed and our awesome customers had a summer full of pool time where there only used to be outdoor seating! There's even a kid-friendly section where they can play and splash away from the bar area so you can bring the whole family for a day full of outdoor fun. 

Since the new construction took out our outdoor stage, we added a bigger, better one that's visible from the Dog Pound, the pool, and the restaurant's outdoor deck. And you probably thought we were already as amazing as we could possibly get! (wink)  

Annual Events & Live Music
As expected, we filled the brand new Dog Days Bar & Grill stage, as well as our indoor stage, with many of your favorite mid-Missouri musicians all season long. We also brought back many of your favorite annual events, plus added a couple of exciting brand new ones. The LOMDA Spring In-Water Boat Show, 2nd Annual Homegrown Festival, White Party, Canine Cannonball, our rockin' stage for Bikefest, and Bogeys & Beer were anticipated by many and enjoyed by all!  

New to the Dog this year was not 1, but 2 Log Jams at the Lake, taking place on July 4 weekend and Labor Day weekend. The crew from Columbia's annual Roots, Blues, & BBQ Festival, along with Logboat Brewing Company & 102.3 BXR, brought some unbelievable live blues music, great giveaways, and delicious local beer tastings for you to enjoy, and we hope they are willing to do it all again next year! We also hosted one of the lake area's first ever Silent Discos. It may have looked weird, but it was awesome!    

New Menu Items
This year's menu contained many of our classic dishes, plus added a lot of new dishes featuring fresh ingredients full of healthy-goodness. The Beach Bowls were a huge hit, with the Chicken Stir Fry Bowl, Vegan Bowl, Maui Fish Bowl, and Thai Chicken Bowl. 

Our limited-time specialty menus brought additional scrumptious recipes to you. These included: Sunny Spring Burgers, "Bowl Appetit" Specials, and the most recent Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey-Inspired Menu. All of them were incredibly well received, but don't worry if you didn't have a chance to try them out. We'll be brainstorming this winter to bring you even more exciting flavors next season! 

More Coming Next Spring
It's been quite an eventful season at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar & restaurant, and if you've been here lately, you've seen that we're already building on even more for next season! Construction continues for even more new additions, our creative cooks are already dreaming up new dishes, and our bartenders are always coming up with something unique and awesome. 

As much as we'll miss all of your smiling faces after Saturday, it will give us time to get excited about seeing you again next spring! Before that, come on out and give Dog Days Bar & Grill a grand goodbye and let us thank you personally for helping to make 2017 another amazing season!

Make This 4th of July Last All Week Long!

Since the holiday falls on a Tuesday this year, we've decided to celebrate the 4th of July at the Lake of the Ozarks the weekend before, the weekend after, and all the time in between! After all... why not? It's always a great time at Dog Days Bar & Grill, and this patriotic holiday gives us yet another reason to get together and enjoy some quality time together. 

Exciting Musical Lineup
Dog Days' stages are home to the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks, and we've got a brand new stage outside for them to entertain you from. Easily visible from anywhere on the outside deck, including the brand new pool, you can enjoy the show no matter where you're seated. We'll also have the indoor stage rockin', so the music never stops!

Log Jam at the Lake
The infamous Roots, Blues, & BBQ Festival that happens every fall in Columbia, along with Logboat Brewing Company, 102.3 BXR, and Dog Days Bar & Grill, are bringing a great big party to the Lake of the Ozarks! It will be a day filled with great live music, ice cold beer, sunshine, and great giveaways! Mark your calendars now! 

Delicious Food & Drinks
All of your seasonal favorites are still on our food and drink menus, plus this year we've added some new additions that everyone has been loving so far! We are using lots of healthy ingredients in combinations that will have your mouth watering. Some of these include mangoes, heirloom tomatoes, rainbow organic carrots, black-eyed peas, rice pilaf, kale, spinach, quinoa, and more. 

Our Beach Bowls have been a big hit, like the Maui Fish Bowl filled with Blackened filet of Mahi-Mahi topped with peas, carrots, fresh mango, and a coconut curry sauce. There's also the Thai Chicken Bowl featuring sauteed Chinese vegetables and grilled chicken tossed with a sweet teriyaki sauce on a bed of wild rice pilaf. YUM! Throw in one of our popular cocktails, like a Rum Rummer, Pina Colada, or combine the two for a refreshing Pain in the A**! 

The Brand New Pool
Last, but certainly not least, you can now chill out in our brand new pool while you wait for your food, sip cocktails, and enjoy the awesome live music. Our pool is divided into two sections to offer a family-friendly side and a swim-up bar side complete with in-water tables. There is so much going on at Dog Days Bar & Grill these days, you can easily spend an entire day (or entire weekend) hanging out here with us! Make sure you invite all of your friends, too!

Have You Seen Our Brand New Pool Yet?

The latest trend among waterfront restaurants in the lake area is to have a swimming pool. Well, our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant takes pride in being the most fun place to hang out all summer long, so of course we had to put in a pool of our own! Your reward for patiently putting up with the construction going on at Dog Days Bar & Grill all spring is not one, but two incredible and refreshing pools to lounge in lakeside. 

You may have been shocked when we first opened up this year to find a gigantic hole between the indoor restaurant and the Dog Pound tiki bar. Our big deck, 2nd outdoor bar, and outdoor stage were completely gone! Well, the guys worked hard to replace all of that with something amazing, and that hard work paid off last week.  

We were able to debut our brand new pool at the 2017 White Party on Tuesday, June 13. Ever since then, plenty of people have been out to enjoy this awesome new addition to Dog Days Bar & Grill.

As we mentioned above, there are actually 2 pools. A smaller one with fountains that is perfect for families to enjoy. Right next to that is the larger pool, with access to a swim-up bar and in-water tables to hold your cocktails while you swim. Now you've got every reason to spend the entire day hanging out with us at the Dog! Between lunch and dinner, you've not only got our air-conditioned restaurant to cool off in, but also the pool. 

Since the bandstand was torn down, we've been hosting live music in the Dog Pound. Our outdoor entertainment now has a new home on a brand new stage. It's larger than the old one, and it is centrally located so that it can be seen and heard no matter where you are hanging out at in our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar. 

We're not stopping there! We've got a lot more coming your way to make Dog Days Bar & Grill even bigger and even better. We'll be putting the finishing touches on the new bar by the pool soon, and just past the pool we've still got more construction going on. Get ready for a new kitchen, awesome gift shop, and (are you ready for this?) a rooftop patio! Wait til you get a look at our amazing view from that vantage point!

This weekend we've also got the Support Our Troops Poker Run happening on Friday. If you haven't signed up for that yet, get on it! AquaPalooza is back again on July 15, when we'll have both the new pools and the water in front of our lakeside stage packed full of people ready to have a rockin' good time.
