Our Marvelous Mango Dishes Taste Great & Are Good For You

This Saturday, July 22, 2017 is a little known holiday - Mango Day! We appreciate the deliciousness of this sweet, juicy, tropical fruit at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant, and we love it so much that it is prominently featured in many of our Dog Days Bar & Grill menu items this season.

Delicious AND Healthy
Around 20 million tons of mangos are grown annually each year, and there are over 400 varieties of this tasty fruit. According to Medical News Today, this is the most widely consumed fruit in the world! Alone, the marvelous mango contains over 20 vitamins and minerals, and when paired with the other healthy ingredients on our menu, the benefits for your body skyrocket even higher.

Zeaxanthin, an antioxidant found in mangos, plays a role in protecting the health of your eyes, and has been found to decrease the risk and progression of age-related macular degeneration. The beta-carotene found in this fruit lowers the risk for developing asthma and may even help to protect your body against certain cancers.

The high fiber content promotes a healthy digestive tract and can lower blood glucose levels. Along with the fiber, the potassium in mangos can help to prevent heart disease. Vitamins A and C are present to help with healthy skin and hair growth. Lower cholesterol is also an added benefit of eating this tasty treat. Last, but certainly not least, the generous amounts of certain vitamins, along with 25 different kinds of carotenoids, gives your immune system a nice boost.
