Fun Facts About Father's Day!!

If you have parents or children of your own, chances are Father's Day is a joyous day in your life - especially if you're lucky enough to spend it at the Lake of the Ozarks! There's nothing quite like enjoying a beautiful day on the water with your dad or your kids. 


This year, we thought we'd help get you in the spirit for this great upcoming weekend by sharing a few fun facts about Father's Day! 


Did You Know?

  • Father's Day was first celebrated in Spokane, Washington in 1910.
  • A woman named Sonora Louise Smart Dodd started the tradition of Father's Day in honor of her dad, William Smart, a widowed Civil War veteran.
  • Father's Day became a national event in 1924.
  • In 2008, there were roughly 70.1 million fathers in America. 
  • Father's Day is the fifth most popular card-sending holiday.
