5 Ways To Relax After a Long Week of Studying

It's that time of year again when some of our favorite customers and team members hit the books and are back in school! Hey, the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is still here for them.  When the classes are done for the week, they can all head back to the Lake and hit Dog Days Bar & Grill for some R&R. Here are 5 perfect ways to relax after a long week at school!

It's going to be a long school year, so no need to overdo it in the first few weeks.  It's the perfect time to learn how to balance work and play while the work load is at its lightest.  We want all of our studious customers to do their absolute best in school, and knowing how to relax occasionally will help you to keep from burning out.  Try a few of these ideas to keep yourself fresh and alert to learn.

Eat Well 

A college diet tends to consist of Ramen noodles and Mac & Cheese.  You need to make sure that you get a hearty meal in your belly now and then.  We've got all of your favorite dishes, and you don't even have to cook or clean-up!  We've got your meat group covered with Wobbly Boot Wings & our Chef's Signature Burgers, veggies with Stuffed Mushrooms and Big Salads, dairy with Nachos & Quesadillas, and grains of course with the sandwich breads.  As far as fruit goes, our bar has a large selection of fruity frozen drinks, and then there are the limes in the margaritas.  (We have non-alcoholic versions if you haven't quite reached that magical 21 mark yet.)  

Relax

Take some time to just sit and chill out.  Kick back on our outdoor deck and let the sound and sight of the Lake of the Ozarks relax your mind.  When you are at Dog Days Bar & Grill, we'll take care of everything while you sit and enjoy.

Get some exercise

Keeping your body in shape goes a long way in keeping your mind in tip-top shape.  Dog Days Bar & Grill's stage will be rocking every weekend until we close up for the season. (It's a long way off... don't think about it yet!) Dancing is one of the most enjoyable ways to exercise.    

Enjoy the outdoors 

The weather just keeps getting nicer and nicer.  Before it gets too cold, get out and get as much fresh air as possible.  This is also good for the brain.  We have a rental shack here at our docks where you can rent boats on the Lake of the Ozarks, and also rent jet skis.   

Sleep

Sleep is a very important key to keeping your mind fresh and on the right track, ready to soak up all kinds of knowledge.  Those all-night study sessions can really take a toll on both your body and mind.  We are open and having fun until 1:30 am on the weekends, but we don't start back in again until 11 am the next day, giving you enough time to get in a full 8 hours of rest before coming back to do it all over again!


Well look at that.  Your favorite waterfront bar at the Lake of the Ozarks has everything you need (except for the place to sleep) to relax and refresh before you head back to classes on Monday morning.  We'd love to see you back often in the next couple of month's.  Best of luck with school this year, and we'll be looking forward to celebrating classes letting out again next Spring.

BomBay Boat Rental Co. at Dog Days' Dock

There is still plenty of Summer left even though the schools have started all over Mid-Missouri.  This season has a lot of great days left in it.  With fewer people in town, especially during the week, it's the perfect time to get out on the water and enjoy a quieter, more relaxed lake experience.  Your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks gives you the chance to rent a boat or jet ski right from our docks. BomBay Boat Rental Company has a rental shack located just below Dog Days Bar and Grill, loaded with excellent watercrafts for you to take out and have an adventure on.  

Ski Boats

For a fast, fun ride out on the water, you can rent one of BomBay Boat Rental Company's Cobalt 220 ski boats.  These boats can easily carry a dozen of your closest friends to all of the coolest spots on the Lake.  (Shorty Pants Lounge is a fun boat ride away from us!)   

Tritoons

The Mirage 8524 Cruise LZ offers comfort, relaxation, and lots of open space.  It has four-sided, wrap around seating and offers lots of room for you and your group to spread out.  

Jet Skis

One of the best jet skis on the water is available to rent off of our dock, the Sea-Doo GTI 130.  Easy for beginners to pick up quickly, and powerful and fun for experienced riders.  

Gas Dock  

If you already own your own boat or jet ski, BomBay Boat Rental Co. can fill it up from our dock.  Stop by for some fuel for your boat, then park and head on up to our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant for a little "fuel" for yourself!  

Don't retire your 2015 Summer yet.  Head on over to the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, have a bit of lunch, rent a watercraft from BomBay Boat Rental Co. off of our dock, and then join us for a drink and dinner when you return it at the end of the day.  You can reserve your boat rental on their website, and they will have it waiting for you when you get here. Have a great, relaxing day out on the water, and we'll be waiting right here when you get back to hear all about it.

For a LIMITED TIME: The Single Barrel Jack Daniel's Menu

It's time for us to introduce another limited time, mouth-watering special menu  from the makers of the best food at the Lake of the Ozarks.  August has brought along with it the Single Barrel Jack Daniel's Special Menu to Dog Days Bar and Grill.  

Once again, we have have put our creative culinary and mixology skills to work, and created some incredible dishes and delicious drinks to tempt you with.  Here is a little story about how we came up with our ideas this time around. 

The Story

Last April a group of us piled into the catering van and embarked on an adventure to Tennessee. We ventured out as a group in Nashville to see what “Music City” had to offer. After an adventurous evening on Broadway consisting of Honky Tonks, live music galore and an undisclosed number of Jack Daniels cocktails we awoke bright eyed and bushytailed the next morning and piled back into the van Destination: Lynchburg Tennessee and the Jack Daniels Distillery. 

At the Distillery we sampled a number of the 94 proof whiskeys drawn from individual barrels, offering us the opportunity to taste the subtle differences in nose, color and flavor from barrel. You are welcome to take home a souvenir bottle from our gift shop, upgrade your Jack Daniels cocktail to “Single Barrel” or try one of our creations from the bar.

The Food Menu

JACK AND MAPLE SMOKED WINGS 

Our in house smoked jumbo wing, tossed in a peppery Jack Daniel’s and Maple Syrup reduction. Served with ranch or Bleu Cheese.

HONEY JACK PECAN CHICKEN 

Hand breaded chicken breast pan fried, drizzled in our Honey Jack sauce, and topped with candied pecans. Served with steamed broccoli, garlic bread, and a garden salad.

BLACK JACK SALMON 

A 6 oz. salmon filet blackened in a cast iron skillet. Then topped with a candied Jack Daniel’s bacon and blue cheese crumbles. Served with sautéed seasonal vegetables, garlic bread and a garden salad. 

JACK’S CHOP HOUSE STEAK SALAD 

Fresh greens tossed with diced tomato, red onion, corn, red peppers, and black beans, in a Jalapeno Lime Ranch. Topped with blackened beef tender tips seared with Jack Daniel’s. Served with garlic bread. 

SOUTHERN PICKLED PIG 

Our house smoked pulled pork topped with melted cheddar, fried pickles, grilled onions and smothered in our sweet Jack Daniel’s Wobbly sauce all on a Kaiser served with curly fries. 

JACK AND APPLE PIE NACHOS 

Crisp fried tortilla chips with cinnamon and sugar. Then we top it with apples stewed in Jack Daniels and cinnamon, toasted pecans, caramel sauce and whipped cream.

The 2nd Annual Warriors Against Melanoma Poker Run is This Saturday

Last year's poker run was such a blast, they're doing it all over again!  The Second Annual Warriors Against Melanoma Poker Run is happening this Saturday, and Dog Days Bar & Grill is proud to not only be a stop, but also to be hosting the awards party afterwards.  Your favorite waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is the spot to gather, reminisce about the day's events, collect your prizes, and talk about what you learned along the way.


Warriors Against Melanoma (WAM) is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to educating people about melanoma and raising money to help find effective treatments and eventually a cure for this deadly skin cancer.  One person dies every hour, every day in the United States of melanoma.  

Over the past year, this group has donated over $30,000 to both melanoma research and directly to families needing assistance with expenses as a result of this disease. WAM was founded a little over a year ago by a stage 3 melanoma survivor and is entirely run by volunteers.

Melanoma and skin cancer facts will be given out verbally at each Poker Run stop when a card is dealt.  Bonus cards will be available for purchase here at the prize party, but if you can correctly recite back 3 of the facts that you learned, you will get a bonus card for free.  

Spend your weekend having fun on the water while you also learn a little about melanoma and how to keep yourself safe from this deadly skin cancer.  We'll have cards waiting for you, and we'll all celebrate together afterwards right here at the best waterfront bar and restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks.  The Boomchux will be entertaining the crowd while we hand out cards, Suigglefish is playing the after-party, and Machine Gun Symphony will close out the night. We are heading into the last third of our 2015 Summer season, and the party at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is still going strong.  We have all kinds of fun and entertainment in store for our amazing customers this month, and we can't wait for you to get on in here keep the good times going.

Full Moon Float Ins

July ended with a Full Moon Float In, and we've only got 3 more left this season.  Dog Days has an extra-special glow under the light of the full moon, making everything seem even more special than the regular awesome nights at our Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant and bar.  Experience our everyday delicious food, amazing drinks, and awesome live music under the glow of a full moon bouncing off of the lovely lake. 2nd Annual Warriors Against Melanoma Poker Run

Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, the Warriors Against Malanoma Poker Run will be happening from 11 am - 5 pm, and Dog Days Bar & Grill is proud to be hosting the prize party wrapping up this year's poker run at 5:30 pm that evening.  Prizes include a new iPad plus hundreds of dollars worth of Lake of the Ozarks restaurant gift certificates. It is only $20 per hand, and proceeds from this Poker Run fundraiser will benefit research for better treatments and hopefully a cure for melanoma.  Proceeds from this event will also benefit the Family Assistance program, for families battling late-stage melanoma needing help with medical expenses.

Dog Days Weekend Late-Night Menu

The best waterfront restaurant and bar at the Lake of the Ozarks understands that a weekend at the Lake can be the best weekend of your life.  You might be having so much fun that you forget to eat something before all of the other restaurants have closed down their kitchens.  That's not a problem here at Dog Days Bar and Grill every Friday and Saturday Night.  We offer a special Late Night Menu for the Lake of the Ozarks from 10 pm - Midnight full of delicious choices to cure those end-of-the-evening cravings.  

Wobbly Boot Wings

We take our Award Winning wings and toss them with your choice of hot, BBQ, teriyaki, or root beer.  They are served with ranch or bleu cheese dressing, and come in orders of 5, 10, or 20.

Nachos

Corn tortilla chips smothered in chili con queso, pico de gallo, and jalapenos.  Served with salsa and sour cream on the side.  Spicy Ground Beef or Jerk Chicken can be added.

Crab Rangoon

A delicious blend of crab meat, cream cheese, and hers stuffed in 5 crispy wonton skins.  Served with a sweet and sour mango dipping sauce.

Fried Pickles

An Ozark Favorite!  Hand breaded garlic pickle slices fried golden brown and served with jalapeno ranch dressing.  

Bacon Wrapped Meatballs

Our house blend sausage wrapped with smoky bacon then tossed in cheddar and  bourbon BBQ sauce.  Served with garlic bread.  

Texas Fries

Seasoned curly fries smothered in spicy queso cheese, bacon, green onions, and cheddar jack cheese.  Served with a side of jalapenos.

Pulled Pork

Award winning Wobbly Boot's smoked pulled pork on a Kaiser bun.  

BBQ Bacon Wrapped Meatball Sub

We take a fresh baked hoagie, fill it full of our house made bacon wrapped meatballs, our bourbon BBQ suace, and melted Cheddar Jack cheese.

Ground Beef Tacos

Seasoned ground chuck topped with Cheddar Jack cheese, lettuce, pico do gallo, and jalapeno lime sauce.

Jerk Chicken Tacos

Smoked jerk chicken in island spices, topped with crisp cabbage, grilled pineapple, pico de gallo, and served with jalapeno lime sauce. 

BBQ Pork Tacos

Smoked pulled pork topped with bbq sauce, cabbage, pico de gallo, and served with jalapeno lime sauce.

Guess What's Waiting For You at AquaPalooza This Year!

Just a few more days and it's here - AQUAPALOOZA 2015!!!!!!  (We're a little excited!) Last week's AquaPalooza blog gave you the details about the best live music event at the Lake of the Ozarks, and this week we are going to fill you in on the great things that will be waiting for you here this weekend.  Your favorite waterfront restaurant has got some pretty awesome stuff happening! 

THE MUSIC

Dog Days Bar and Grill always has an impressive lineup of the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks, but this weekend is even bigger than the rest.  AquaPalooza goes from noon until 5 pm, but after that we keep the party going until 1 am with two bonus performances.  

Noon - 5 pm:  AquaPalooza

State Line Drive

This talented bunch of guys play country/pop music.  The band is made up of two sets of brothers plus their bandmate, all from Missouri.  When they realized the potential of their blended harmonies and mix of talents, State Line Drive was born.    

Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs

They bring a mix of the best of the 70's to the stage.  This group is proud of their boogie lifestyle, and it shows in their energetic, highly entertaining performances.  

Double Vision, A Tribute to Foreigner

If you are a Foreigner fan, then you will love the Midwest's premier tribute band, Double Vision.  Members from three of Kansas City's favorite bands- Vandelyn Kross, Monkey Finger, and London Drive- have come together to pay tribute to a legendary band.  

Members Only

A Lake of the Ozarks favorite 80's tribute band, this group plays all of your favorite music from one of the best decades.  The show is high energy, loaded with fun, and sure to keep you dancing and singing throughout. 

When AquaPalooza is over, the music starts back up on our regular Dog Days stage.

Our extensive Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant menu has a variety of flavors to please everybody.  You will find Wobbly Boot Wings, Nachos, Chef's Signature Burgers, Specialty Sandwiches, Entrees, a yummy Kids' Menu, and more.  July also features a limited-time Sizzlin' Summer Shrimp Menu, and our exclusive Friday & Saturday Late Night Menu.  We can feed you before, during, and late into the night after AquaPalooza.  

THE DRINKS

You can find a list of drink suggestions on our website menu along with a beer and wine list , or you can rely on our talented bartenders to mix up something special for you. The beer is always ice cold, and our frozen concoctions can't be beat.  We have plenty of spirits on hand to keep you cool and refreshed all weekend long.
