Support Our Troops Poker Run 2015

Dog Days Bar and Grill is excited to be a part of this weekend's Support Our Troops Poker Run.  Our very own Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant is not only one of the stops, but we have been designated as the final stop for dropping off your cards, and we are hosting the amazing after-party.  

This year is the 8th Annual Support Our Troops Poker Run, and they are doing their best to make it the biggest one yet.  To date, $100,000 has been raised for H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, a wonderful organization that is dedicated to working with others to provide support to military families in the communities where they live.  They also donate a portion of their proceeds to the Global Orphan Project, which is headquartered in Kansas City, MO and mobilizes local churches in some of the poorest areas on earth to care for the neediest orphaned and vulnerable children in those communities.

Meet One of Our Featured Bands - Funhouse

You can always find the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks at Dog Days Bar and Grill.  With 2 stages, we can keep the party going all night long without big breaks in between acts.  One of the amazing bands that will be gracing our stage this Summer is Funhouse.  

They describe themselves as the HOTTEST, HIGH ENERGY dance rock party Band, playing the LATEST dance tracks to make you wanna SHAKE IT!!!  Well, they have already played  here a few times, and we can definitely vouch for them.  When these guys play, the dance floor stays packed!  We asked the guys a few questions, and this is what they had to say.

The Band

How did the band come together?

The band formed almost two years ago, with the idea of focusing on current songs & artists, as there are already a ton of 80's, 90'. classic rock, country, and blues bands in the area.  We wanted to play something different that could get dancers excited.

What are some favorite or unique gigs you have played?

ALL of them, with summer shows at Dog Days at the top of the list of course! The attendance of bachelorette parties always promise an "off the hook" evening.


What's a party like at Dog Days when you guys play? 

Absolutely some of my favorites... I love the lake and lake people... and the best party is at Dog Days.  Drinking, dancing, excited peeps... never a dull moment!!  Plus the staff is second to none.

Our Sizzlin' Summer Shrimp Menu & Canine Cannonball 2015

Our newest featured menu at the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks is all about the shrimp.  The kitchen is cooking up plenty of tastes to tempt you, paired up with some pretty amazing drink specials coming out of the best Lake of the Ozarks waterfront bar. 

This weekend is also our annual Canine Cannonball Competition, June 12-14.  It's definitely going to be an incredible weekend to make a trip on over to Dog Days Bar & Grill. 

Here is at peek at our super-scrumptious, succulent, savory, Sizzlin' Summer Shrimp Menu.       

THE FOOD:

Three Way Shrimp

We will prepare half a pound of jumbo shrimp your choice of three ways, Island Spiced, Blackened or Scampi Style. Served with lemon and fresh greens. Half Pound $13.99

Roasted Garlic and Seafood Dip

We roast whole garlic cloves and scallions and blend it with cream cheese, shrimp and crab meat.Then topped with mozzerella and Parmesean cheese and toasted golden brown. Served with tortilla chips for dipping. $14.99

Peel and Eat Shrimp

We boil half a pound of jumbo shrimp in creole spices and serve them with lemon and cocktail sauce. $12.99

Coconut Shrimp

Hand breaded with shredded sweet coconut and fried golden brown and served with mango dipping sauce. $11.99

Shrimp Tacos

Spicy fried shrimp in a flour tortillas with green cabbage, pico de gallo, sweet thai chile, with jalapeno ranch. $12.99

Shrimp Avocado Wrap

Sundried tomato tortilla with chilled shrimp, fresh avocado, greens, and a lemon garlic aioli. $12.99

Carribean Style K-Bobs
Grilled shrimp and spicy sausage skewers served  with a teriyaki glaze, grilled pineapple, piquant peppers on a bed of black beans and rice. $19.99

One of our freshly muddled mojitos with a splash of watermelon puree.

Irish cream, banana liquor, and vodka blended with ice cream and banana puree.

Southern Comfort and a blend of passion fruit puree, lime juice, and dark cherries.  Very comfortable.

Dog Days is FULL OF FUN in June

If you've been to Dog Days Bar and Grill, you already know why people say we're the best waterfront bar and restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we can do more than just fill your belly.  June is a perfect example of the excitement there is to have here. Our June events at the Lake of the Ozarks schedule is packed full of both fun and variety.  

Hopefully all of you were here last night for our first chance at hosting the 11th Annual White Party that we inherited from our sister restaurant at the Lake, Shorty Pants Lounge.  Facebook should be packed with pics from that as soon as everyone recovers!  

CANINE CANNONBALL

Next up is our family fun event that is another Lake of the Ozarks favorite - The Annual Dock Dogs Canine Cannonball.  You will see both amateur and professional dogs from all over the country compete to see who can jump the best in various categories.  Three impressive days of competition June 12, 13, & 14, 2015.  Do you think you've got a dog that can out-jump the rest?  www.dockdogs.com has all of the rules and details.     

FATHER'S DAY

Sunday, June 21 celebrates Dads everywhere.  Sure, this isn't only a Dog Days event, but definitely one worth recognizing.  We know you & Dad will have a great day together if you spend at least part of it right here with us.  

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS POKER RUN

The 8th Annual Support Our Troops Poker Run is happening at the Lake of the Ozarks on June 26.  To date, over $100,000 has been raised to assist our brave troops overseas and the families that they leave behind.  There are 11 stops along the route.  Dog Days is the final stop where you will turn in your cards anytime between 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm, and we are hosting the awesome after-party from 5:30 pm - 10:00 pm.  You can find out how to participate and all other details at www.lakeozarkspokerrun.com        

LIVE MUSIC   

Last, but certainly not least, is Dog Days impressive live music schedule.  You can hear the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks every Wednesday through Sunday this June on our two stages.  Our website has the full, updated list.  If any changes are made to the lineup, you will find them there.  On schedule this month are Funhouse, Pearl, Dr. Cheese, and the Mixtapes to name just a few.  A little something for just about every musical taste.

11th Annual White Party at Dog Days

It's once again time for the best party at the Lake of the Ozarks - the 11th Annual White Party at Dog Days Bar and Grill.  All of you die-hard White Party-goers may be a little surprised to hear that it has moved from our sister restaurant, Shorty Pants Lounge. Well, they got to have it for an entire decade, so now it's time for them to share the fun with us.  This Lake of the Ozarks waterfront restaurant and bar learned a thing or two from the last ten parties, and we've got a few tricks up our sleeve of our own to add.  

The Annual White Party is THE Summer kick-off party at the Lake of the Ozarks. We take the "only wear white after Labor Day" fashion rule to the extreme, and ask that everyone at this event wear NOTHING BUT WHITE!  Your reward for dressing up? Drink specials all night long and the most amazing celebration to really get your Lake of the Ozarks Summer started.  You will see GO GO Dancers, a prize wheel, roaming performers, plus many more surprises.

Dog Days Is THE Place To Be For Memorial Weekend

The Lake of the Ozarks is the perfect place to enjoy a long  holiday weekend, and Dog Days Bar and Grill has got plenty planned to keep your bellies full, thirst quenched, toes tapping, and your overall mood happy and relaxed through all of it!  We are not only the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks, but we can also offer you the best late-night food at the Lake of the Ozarks, the best drinks at the Lake of the Ozarks, the best live music at the Lake of the Ozarks, and the best Memorial Day weekend ever!  

Yeah, we REALLY like it here.  Here are a few of the reasons that we know you will too.

BEST FOOD:

Dog Days has a large selection of delicious food on our menu everyday.  These include appetizers, burgers, wraps, salads, entrees, and even a menu just for the kids.  

As great as everything tastes on our regualar menu, we have gone a couple of steps beyond our normal fare and added a LATE NIGHT MENU every Friday & Saturday, available from 10 pm to midnight.  Perfect for those of you who were having so much fun all day that you forgot to eat!  Ready for more?  All throughout May we have also added our MAHI MAHI MEGA MENU to the lineup.  Foods with a little tropical island flavor and special drinks to pair up with them.    

 

BEST BAR:

We've got the ice cold drinks that will keep you cool all of Memorial Weekend.  It's hard to visit the Lake of the Ozarks and not have at least one Rum Runner or a Pain in the A**.  There are plenty of other frozen drinks besides those, and don't forget to add a topper!  

If frozen isn't your "cup of booze," we have a talented staff behind our bar waiting to mix up our signature cocktails.  Lake Waters, Margaritas, Mojitos... you name it!  We have a shelf full of spirits to play with.  And of course, if beer is more your style, we've got plenty of that too, and it's ICE COLD!

BEST ATMOSPHERE:

There is plenty of seating indoors if the weather is too hot for you, or if you've been on the boat all day and just need a little break from the sun.  Our indoor area is all non-smoking.  

If you prefer to stay outside, we have tons of seating overlooking the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks.  Not only can you see the water from every table, but you can see our outdoor stage from most of them too. Our staff is well-trained in taking care of the large bunches of people that we have the pleasure to serve every summer, keeping the customers happy and giving a great vibe to the entire restaurant.     

Another great bonus feature at Dog Days Bar and Grill is the fact that you can rent a boat or wave runner from BomBay Boat Rentals and pick it up at our dock.  You can visit their website to make a reservation.  They are also selling fuel to the public from 8 am - 6 pm, 7 days a week.  Have an early lunch with us, pick up your rental and spend the day on the water, then return it back here in time for dinner and some incredible entertainment.

Our May Mahi Mahi Menu: Tropical Island Flavor!

The month of May brings tropical taste-tempting flavors for a limited time to the best waterfront restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks- Dog Days Bar and Grill.  This month we are featuring a Mahi Mahi Mega Menu for our monthly special.  Our kitchen isn't the only one getting in on this.  The best waterfront bar at the Lake of the Ozarks has also come up with some refreshing concoctions to compliment the island menu flavors.

What can you expect from Mahi Mahi?

The name Mahi Mahi comes from the Hawaiian language.  While the word itself means "very strong", this fish's flavors are mild and almost sweet.  It is also know as Dorado.  Mahi Mahi is an excellent source of healthy, extra lean protein.  Low in both saturated fat and sodium, it's also rich in niacin, vitamin B12, phosphorus, and selenium, providing about 400 mg of omega-3's.  For those of you trying to eat light, this delicious fish is only 100 calories per 4-ounce serving!

Mahi Mahi Menu Food:

Coconut Mahi Mahi Bites

Hand breaded with sweet shredded coconut flakes and fried golden brown. Served with a mango chutney dipping sauce. $9.99

Mahi West Coast Salad

Mixed Greens with fresh strawberries, cucumbers, garlic croutons, sunflower seeds, topped with a grilled Mahi filet. Served with poppy seed dressing. $13.99

Mahi Tacos

Spicy Mahi filets seared put in flour tortillas and with crisp cabbage, pico de gallo, and jalapeno lime sauce. Served with black beans and rice. $11.99

Island Mahi Wrap

Blackened Mahi, roasted red pepper rice, black beans, and pineapple drizzled with sweet Thai chile sauce and Sriracha aioli inside a sun dried tomato wrap. Served with your choice of side. $13.99

California Mahi Club

Grilled Mahi filet on sourdough bread with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and piquante peppers with lemon garlic aioli. Served with choice of side. $13.99

Monterey Mahi Mahi
Blackened Mahi Filet topped with sauteed shrimp, crab, scallops, fresh avocado and melted cheeses on a bed of red pepper rice and fresh pico de gallo.  Served with garlic bread and a side salad. $20.99
